Pleasant City Church, located in Shelby, NC, has an active Sunday attendance of over 700, with a Children’s Ministry involving over 100 children. We are a church that believes in the inerrancy and inspiration of Scripture. We are affiliated and cooperate
with Southern Baptist.
Education: Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred
Experience: Experience in some capacity supporting children’s ministry
--has a passionate and personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ
--able to communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and church body

Responsibilities: The Children's Pastor/Director is responsible to the Lead Pastor for the administration and operation of all facets of Children's Ministry at Pleasant City Church.
Engages, equips, and encourages families to take ownership of their child’s spiritual growth.
Oversees and coordinates Kid's Church, Kid's Connection, Wednesday's Kids Zone, Summer Activities and VBS.
Assist in counseling (salvation, etc) and visiting children based on situations and needs.
Recruit, train and supervise all aspects of volunteers that serve within the children's ministry.
Ensure all volunteers complete the proper application paperwork for background checks.
Assist in preparing budgets in related areas of responsibilities and work within the budget assigned.
Oversees and works with the PreK Director assisting in whatever capacity to meet the needs of the PreK ministry.
Gather input from the MMO Director and the Prek Director in evaluating / updating the children's ministry curriculum and supplies.
Monitor the weekly volunteer vacancies and recruit to fill those slots.
Learns the operation of computers, audio/video and children registration equipment related to the children's ministry.
Ability to use social media to keep volunteers and parents informed of scheduling, events, activities and teaching in the attempts to keep them involved and encouraged in the ministry.
Assist in maintaining a healthy and safe environment of children's facilities and grounds.
Assist in maintaining storage facilities and space management within the buildings.
Mother's Morning Out Program: The Children's Pastor/Director is responsible for the overall operation of the program while working through the MMO Director.
With the assistance of the MMO Director, prepare an annual budget and submit it for approval by the Lead Pastor and Church Deacons.
Monitor the MMO monthly budget reports with the MMO Director.
Assist the MMO Director in the interviewing and hiring of MMO staff as needed.
Conduct weekly chapel program on the day and time that works best for the MMO program.
Assist the MMO Director with special events and yearly programs.
In the event of a vacancy in the MMO Director position, prepare an updated job description, seek guidance from the Lead Pastor on presenting to Deacon body and Personnel Committee.
Assist the MMO Director in handling any staff related issues as needed.
Work with the MMO Director to ensure adequate classroom facilities are provided and balanced with the needs for Sunday gatherings.
Help Oversees Church-wide Events/Recreation
Must be a person who demonstrates a call to ministry and a daily walk with the Lord.
Must be a tithing member of the Church body.
Must be a person of integrity and discipline.
Must have a family that supports the ministry of the Church with regular attendance and participation.
Must be a team player. Must keep regular office hours. Must attend staff meetings.
Must be knowledgeable of child safety & insurance policies.
Must work under the supervision of the Lead Pastor.
