Pastoral Assoicate in Children's & Family Ministry
Fort City Church
Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada

FORT CITY CHURCH (fortcitychurch.ca) has a one-year contract position in Children’s and Family ministry available for a spiritually passionate, adventurous young adult generously made possible by donors across Canada to aid in our ongoing recovery from the May 2016 Fort McMurray wildfire. Our hope would be to see this transition into a permanent position.
Ideally suited to someone looking to explore their fit for ministry, enter into ministry or are early in their ministry career, you will have the opportunity to make a difference for Christ while gaining practical hands on ministry experience. You will be serving with a strong team of full time and bi-vocational pastors who will equip and serve alongside of you, as together we work to make Jesus visible to our city.
This is Northern Alberta! This is Oilsands country! We are northern and frontier while also semi-urban and diverse. This is one of Canada’s youngest cities with an average age of 32, where people from across the country and around the world come to make a great life for themselves and their families.
Fort McMurray values hard work and intense play. There’s a drive among the women and men of our city to participate in sports of all descriptions while engaging in a growing music, arts and pub scene. Team sports of all types, as well as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, gaming, or enjoying the gym, are but a few of the passions you can enjoy! The region also provides ample opportunity for quading, snowmobiling, motocross, fishing, hunting and the shooting sports.
Most importantly you’ll be serving with a church family that is committed to a holistic mission of word and deed. We are acutely sensitive to and inclusive of people from irreligious backgrounds while growing a community of
fully alive mission focused Christ followers. We want you to experience a compassionate grace filled community where everybody’s welcome, nobody’s perfect and because of God, we believe anything can happen. The church typically sees around 325 for Sunday worship
with close to 900 who would call Fort City their church home. The majority of those who currently attend have come since the wildfire with relatively little church in their background.
