Church Description -
Bethany is a very kingdom minded church located in Weston Wisconsin. We are connected with the Converge Great Lakes District and are part of the Converge Worldwide denomination (formerly known as Baptist General Conference). We are in a very stable growing
area of Wisconsin and are part of approximately 135,000 people in the greater Wausau area. The church presently has about 200 active participants including multiple generations. The church sees its mission as bringing people into relationship with Christ
and one another. The church is celebrating 40 years in 2018.
The church began in 1978 with four families who had a vision for planting a church. The first phase of the building was built in the early 1980's with the present new worship Center, lobby, offices and CE addition added on in 1997. There have been three
pastors who have lead the congregation over the past 40 years with our present Senior pastor completing 18 years with Bethany. The church has had two full time staff and administrative staffing since the mid 90's. The churches present senior pastor is implementing
a succession plan for the next senior pastor.
The church's unique thumbprint is centered around five values that drive the work of the ministry. These five values are listed below:
DEPENDING ON GOD TO LEAD AND EMPOWER US. There is a strong sense of our need for the Holy Spirit and moving in unity with God's Spirit. The church has experienced a unique sense of unity over the past decade of ministry.
LOVING ONE ANOTHER AS FAMILY. The church has matured in its understanding of what it means to build one another up and care for one another as family. As a result, the church has a reputation of being a place to belong and heal through this love and grace.
REACHING LOST PEOPLE. We invest in lost people outside of the walls of the church loving and caring for people with a genuine heart to see lost people reached. As a result, the church has seen many new believers converted and baptized and has successfully
been in involved in four church plants over the past 10 years resulting in a ministry to the deaf and three new vibrant churches in the area.
INVESTING IN OTHERS. There is a strong focus on discipling others that permeates the church body. As a result, an unusually high percentage of adults are involved in mentoring and working with children, youth, and adults throughout the church and outside
of the church.
ACCEPTING ONE ANOTHER AND BEING REAL. Bethany is a place to come as you are without judgement or condemnation, centering the identity we have in Christ. As a result, the church has been a refuge for people with addictions and wounds who need the healing
touch of God.
The church is very committed to missions with mission trips regularly to our own community, a sister church in Ukraine, Children’s home and orphanage in the Philippians, and special projects in Haiti, Africa, and other places around the world. Most recently
the church has focused on significant ministry in our own community, collaborating with other churches to share the gospel.
We believe the next chapter for Bethany is an exciting one. We believe it will be a time of significant change. The church understands the need for a Godly leader who is willing to embrace God's Vision for this church and lead us into the next chapter God
has, who can pick up a new generation to unite with the old in a fresh vision for what God has called His church.
