We have partnered with a growing (1,500+) church in Valparaiso, IN to help them identify and hire their next Pastor of Student Ministries. Calvary Church is an independent, evangelical Bible church committed to spreading the Word about Jesus Christ throughout Northwest Indiana and the world. General Description: Student ministries (6th-12th) should be conducted as an integrated aspect of Calvary Church. The Pastor of Student Ministries will provide overall direction and vision with the goal to reach as many teens as possible with the Gospel and to grow them into lifelong followers of Christ.

 

Qualifications for Consideration

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of full-time, vocational youth ministry experience in a large church.

  • Must have a least an undergraduate degree in biblical studies with a desire to continue graduate studies.

  • Must have a mindset of excellence in everything He does.

  • Must have a strong passion for reaching the lost as well as equipping Christ followers with the Word.

  • Must be an engaging speaker who motivates others to follow Christ.

  • Must be a visionary leader who leads staff and volunteers together around overall mission.


Responsibilities:

Spiritual formation of Students

  • Provide visionary leadership and oversight for all aspects of student ministries including program structure and development.

  • Lead student ministry team (employees/interns) assuring ministry alignment, effectiveness in roles, and caring for their souls.

  • Oversee the teaching responsibilities and all content to the students by making sure competent teachers are being used to effectively communicate the message.

  • Effectively communicate vision, goals, events and ministry opportunities to students, parents and staff.

  • Assure that competent leaders and if necessary staff pastors are ministering to the students and parents who are encountering personal/spiritual struggles in their lives.

  • Prayer for students, parents, leaders and the entire ministry should be an important part of the life of the Pastor of Student Ministries.

  • Continue your education in the area of youth ministry to strengthen your knowledge of either through reading, conferences, visiting other churches and connecting with other youth leaders.

 

Other Responsibilities

 

  • Work as a member of the staff contributing to the overall mission of Calvary Church

  • Assist the Executive Pastor with the hiring process of an additional Director position.

  • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.

  • Assist in the development of a Leadership/internship program for the church.

  • Participate in public worship services on occasion: announcements, after service prayer and counseling and on occasion fill the role as the teaching pastor.

  • Annually, join with all pastors in establishing Churchwide goals and strategies under the direction of the Executive and Senior Pastor.  

  • Meet monthly with the Executive Pastor to review student ministries, problem-solving, and encouragement.

  • Annually submit Student Ministries goals for review and approval by the Executive Pastor.

  • Take all vacation time allotted for you and your family.
