Youth Pastor

St. Andrew United Methodist Church – West Lafayette, Indiana

 

Part-time position – up to 30 hours per week
St. Andrew has an immediate need for a Youth Pastor.
St. Andrew is a growing, well-established, long-standing church community on the northern edge of West Lafayette, Indiana.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Disciple, lead, and connect with middle and high school youth in life and Christian faith  Pastoral Christian presence to both youth and parents  Team building – recruiting, equipping, supporting leaders – for a greater mission  Lead and develop a diverse ministry program staffed by volunteers to accomplish defined goals  Effective use of church media and public social media in connecting with others, promoting programming goals  Regular meetings with church staff, Youth Ministry team, and pastors  Administrative tasks: preparation of schedules, budgets, documents, emails, texts, phone calls, etc.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Christian maturity – an active, intentional, joyous interior journey of faith  An outwardly-focused passion to connect youth with Christ – within the church and beyond  Must abide by guidelines of Safe Sanctuaries (Child Protection Policies)  Demonstrated trustworthiness as a leader of young people, confirmed by adults/parents  Comfort in being present in places where youth show up: school lunch rooms, sporting events, etc.  Supportive of the mission and vision of St. Andrew Church and the United Methodist Church  A history of being a wonderful team player and supportive of fellow workers in current/previous employment settings  Sense of humor  Efficiency and reliability in working within a church (or institutional) setting in a coordinated and cooperative way  Acceptance of a broad range of Christian understandings of faith

 

COMPENSATION:
To be determined by experience and availability.
The Youth Pastor is supervised by the church’s Associate Pastor in conjunction with the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
