Reports to:               Lead Pastor

 

Classification:          Full-Time, paid staff

 

This position provides an opportunity for a devoted Christian to glorify God through their calling to minister to middle/high school students through:

  • A Comprehensive Ministry:  establishing relational ministry and developing well-balanced biblical instruction and programming for both growth and outreach opportunities
  • A Collaborative Focus: desiring students to find ways to intersect with the entire church, through worship, outreach, and service

This will be achieved through:

  • Providing age-appropriate weekly gatherings for both middle and high school teens that align with Cobblestone’s theological beliefs and Statement of Faith
  • Building, equipping, coordinating and shepherding a team of volunteers, who can then train and disciple students
  • Providing resources for parents to minister to and disciple their students
  • Equipping high school students to transition into the life and ministry of the church body at large
  • Keeping administrative records (background checks, ministry budgets, permission slips, etc.)
  • Attending regular staff meeting to connect and communicate with other church ministry leaders
  • Meeting with the lead pastor for accountability, prayer, and oversight
  • Communicating with both parents of teens, specifically, and the church body, in general, about the growth and events of the youth ministry

The qualified individual we are looking for:

  • is mature in their faith and devoted to growing in their relationship with Jesus
  • is in love with the Bible and its teachings
  • demonstrates the ability to clearly teach spiritual truths to young people
  • demonstrates the ability to communicate through all media options to teens, parents, and the church
  • is able to recruit, train and shepherd volunteers
  • agrees with Cobblestone’s Statement of Faith
  • desires to build relationships within the church body
  • desires to further their education, find regular seminars and training workshops to be better at ministering to young people.  (Any continuing education, workshops, and seminars will need to be approved by lead pastor.)

Education: Preferred but not required.  Ministry experience with running, assisting and implementing youth ministry is essential, especially if no formal education is present.
