Job Description:

Catalyst of Austin is a recent church plant in the fastest growing city in the country - Austin, TX.

Our vision is to be "an urban church proclaiming the gospel of Jesus, making multi-cultural disciples and equipping them for the Kingdom mission in Austin and beyond."

We launched in January 2016 and have seen God use our new church to be an agent of change.

A few months into our launch, the largest Newspaper in Austin, the Austin American-Statesman, published a full feature story on our journey to start a church in Austin. Through God's grace, our story of faith was shared with over 2 million people in Austin and was later picked up by the Associated Press and became a national story.  Here is the link to the article:

Pastor Steve Blake was also featured in a Christian publication highlighting urban, mult-ethnic ministry. Here is the link to the article:

We are humbled that in such a short time, God has used our church in such an amazing way!

We are now looking to add a College Pastor to our team.

In Austin we have amazing colleges and universities including University of Texas at Austin (Go Longhorns!), Huston-Tillotson University, St. Edward's University, Concordia University, and Austin Community College, among others

Responsibilites will include:

  • Starting and growing missional communities on as many local campuses as possible
  • Developing and discipling student leaders to serve in the college ministry and church
  • Networking with other para-church campus ministries
  • Forming and training Missional Teams
  • Creating a contextualized campus outreach strategy including planning and executing outreach events
  • Leading college bible studies and worship gatherings
  • Organizing community engagement opportunities for students to serve the city.
  • Developing College Intern program
  • Preaching sermons

The ideal candidates will be gospel-centered and have a passion for discipleship and mission. Catalyst of Austin is intentional about building bridges with those who are unchurched. As such, we desire to be guided by the Holy Spirit to contextualize our ministry to a city that is almost 90% unchurched. The ideal candidates should be comfortable with building relationships with people who currently do not share a Christian worldview.

If you are considering being a church planter in the future, this would be an ideal residency position.  Catalyst of Austin is a part of a church planting network and our prayer is to be a church planting church that plants other churches in our region in the near future. We are always looking for future church planters.

For those who want to continue in their ministry calling in a unique context, this is the perfect place to be.

We are not offering any paid positions at this time but we are offering an open door to embark on an adventure unlike any other. Stipends may be available depending on experience with salaries being a possibility as the church grows. If you are willing to raise support, we can help you with that as all of our staff have had to raise support.

If this sounds like the Book of Acts to you, that's what we are going for. What if Austin could be like Antioch? Disciples being made from all cultures and disciple-making churches being sent out.
