Job Description:

Crossroads is seeking a passionate and creative high school director for student ministry at the North Fayette campus.  We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about teenagers and capable of recruiting, leading, and building relationships with high school students and adult leaders.  

 

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated leader who likes the excitement and challenge of leading in student ministry.  This person will primarily be responsible for the care and leadership of high school students, and will follow the direction of the student ministry pastor.  



Compensation: This position is full time;  Average 40-50 hours per week.



Character Qualifications

  • Personal faith in Jesus and commitment to love and obey him.

  • Passion for God, Love for others, and Love for a broken world (especially teens!).

  • Philosophy of ministry and biblical doctrine must be aligned with Crossroads Church.

  • Teachable attitude, compassionate and high standard of integrity.

  • Experience in student ministry is prefered.  

  • Must be 18 or older.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • As the primary contact for high school students at Crossroads, must be able to attract kids, build trust with parents, and recruit and train adult volunteers.

  • Build a culture for high school students that is focused on reaching and including others and showing God’s love (inviting new students to student ministry, following up with new attendees, meeting them on their turf and activities, etc.)

  • Assist in developing experiences/resources.

  • Provide organization & leadership for high school small groups & weekly, Sunday gatherings.

  • Provide spiritual/emotional care for high school students and volunteers.

  • Teach periodically in large group settings.

  • Plan and execute events for high school students (retreats, serving events, etc.)

 

Picture of Success

Success for this position in the first 12-18 months could look like...

a.) 100 high school students actively involved in weekly small groups,

b.) 75-100 high school students attending annual events (retreats, mission trip, etc.),  

c.) 60% of high school small groups involved in serving activities at least once a quarter,

d.) 50% increase of adult volunteers in high school ministry (i.e. if there are currently 12 volunteers, that number would increase to 18 volunteers).



Qualities & Skills

  • Faith & Calling.  Candidate should articulate a clear calling to church ministry, and a personal faith in Jesus that is expressed in words and actions.

  • Leadership Development.  The ability to form strong relationships with teens and adult volunteers and to lead through those relationships.  

  • Communication Skills. Experience communicating to large groups of students and/or adults.  Ability to handle conflict and difficult conversations among volunteers, kids, and parents.

  • Outreach. The ability to see teens and potential volunteers who are not involved in student ministry and create opportunities for them to be involved and feel included.  

  • Organization.  The ability to accomplish tasks, work within a budget, meet deadlines, take ownership of a project, and always looking to improve the organization’s effectiveness.

  • Responsible.  The ability to follow instruction, listen to coaching, work with a team, communicate clearly and timely, and is dependable to accomplish a goals without being micromanaged.

  • Self Motivated.  The ability to set goals and achieve them.  Doesn’t wait to be told to do the next thing.   

 

Special requirements

  • Must be willing and able to work most Sundays as well as weeknights (dependent on High School and Middle School Schedule)

  • Be a member of Crossroads and engaged in its overall vision
