First Christian Church of Santa Maria, located on the beautiful central coast of California, is looking for a full time Worship Pastor. We are a non-denominational, Evangelical, church with contemporary worship and a wide open front door to our community.
Our weekly average about 1,100 adults in our Sunday morning worship. We are blessed with a diverse group of people from a variety of backgrounds that come together to encounter Christ!
The ideal candidate for this position would be someone with an approachable, engaging worship style that is relatable to a wide variety of people. They would possess strong leadership skills to be used to engage people’s hearts and direct them to God. We
desire candidates to have at least five years of ministry experience, a bachelor’s degree, strong musical & vocal skills, and a background that prepares them to lead a large team of people both paid & volunteer.

Worship Pastor Job Description
I. Basic Responsibility
To create a Worship environment that celebrates Christ and draws people to God.
II. General Description of Duties:
A. Sunday Morning, as well as other services:
1. Plan theme with Lead Pastor, set design, and choose personnel.
2. Lead congregation in corporate worship.
3. Provide pastoral leadership to Creative Arts department.
4. Give leadership to Technical Arts ministry.
5. Work with Lead Pastor to develop and articulate ongoing technologies and philosophy of worship.
B. Music and Media:
Recruit and train volunteers to join Creative Arts Ministry teams
Explore and develop various means of communication utilizing culturally relevant media and technologies.
Serve as resource person for all music and media production.
Develop and direct regular programs that meet spiritual and recreational needs.
1. Worship Leading:
Up-front leadership on Sunday morning and other services as planned.
2. Shepherding Team Members:
Give pastoral leadership to all staff and volunteers in the Creative Arts Ministry.
2. Counseling (as needed):
Primarily counsel those in the Creative Arts ministry as their needs become apparent; yet be available for situations that arise in the church as a whole.

1. Media and Publicity:
Use the various media resources to reach the community with news about First Christian Church and its ministries. Include Creative Arts staff and volunteers in planning of publicity.
Develop and oversee department budget (including purchases and repairs of sound and lighting equipment).
3. Other Duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor
Accountable to the Lead Pastor and Elder Board
The Creative Arts Pastor will receive performance feedback from the Lead Pastor at anniversary date.
The Creative Arts Pastor will provide performance feedback to all Creative Arts staff at anniversary dates.
