Minister of Preschool and Children
The Minister of Preschool and Children will provide direct oversight to all aspects of birth
through Grade 5 ministries. The children’s ministry is a vital part of JupiterFIRST’s DNA, as such,
the Minister of Preschool and Children will assist the Senior Minister in designing and executing
a churchwide process that encourages consistent and lifelong spiritual formation.
•Give frontlines leadership to the spiritual direction and programs of preschool- and
elementary-age children, under the direction of the Senior Minister.
•Provide a warm, friendly, and engaging environment for children and families, focusing on
offering events and program that center on love, joy, fun, and Christ.
•Be growth-minded, creating programs and events that are attractive and welcoming to the
•Understands and implements appropriate child development knowledge through activities,
curriculum, and environments.
•Ability to deliver excellent, engaging, age-appropriate, culturally relevant, spiritually
connected, and biblically-literate messages to children.
•Build relationships with parents/families of students, working in partnership to create
opportunities for discipleship, connection, and spiritual growth within the home.
•Actively influence and create an environment conducive to growing children as passionate
disciples of Jesus who will cultivate a personal and life-long pattern of spiritual growth.
•Recruit, train, maintain, and minister to a team of volunteer adult and student leaders.
•Be involved in children’s lives outside of church programs, as appropriate.
•Actively create opportunities for intergenerational interaction.
•Ensure effective transitions into middle-school ministry.
•Work collaboratively with the Minister of Students.
•Champion and maintain sanitation and safety protocols.
•Share pastoral responsibilities as needed.
•Participate in the life and worship of the Congregation.
•Potential additional areas of oversight as equipped.
Must be able to win the confidence, trust, and love of children of all ages
and stages; ability to shepherd “the least of these” is a requirement.
Experience and Background:
The qualified candidate will have a healthy mix of related
education and experience, preferrably in a mid- to large-size children’s ministry. Leadership
experience strongly preferred. Ordination (or ability/willingness to become ordained) preferred;
those without ordination will be hired as director-level. Proven ability to understand and
minister within an ancient/future framework.
