Job Description:

Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church (CLEFC) is looking to fill its Senior Pastor position. CLEFC is located in Clear Lake, Iowa, which is in north central Iowa, 2 hours south of Minneapolis and 2 hours north of Des Moines. Clear Lake is a town of about 8,000 residents but has the feel of a resort town as it swells for 6 months of the year with people coming to enjoy lake life. Though a smaller town, Clear Lake lies in the middle of a series of connected communities and there are about 100,000 people living within 30 miles.

Exact duties of the Senior Pastor will be determined based on the selected candidates specific giftings but will include typical responsibilities such as preaching, teaching, care visits, etc. This position will be officially open for applications from November 1st, 2107 through January 31st, 2018.

*Our average attendance at Sunday morning services is: 175
  *Many in our congregation have 10+ years of attendance.
  *We offer both Adult and Children’s Sunday School classes.
  *A strength of our church is a core of solid families.

  *Our attendees place a high value on God’s Word. Scripture is our standard for faith and practice.
  *Our people desire strong preaching, teaching, discipleship, and evangelism.
  *Programs for children and youth are a high priority, indicated by significant investment in programs such as Awana, youth   groups, and outreach programs such as VBS and Kings Kids.
  *We have a strong commitment to missions—international, national, local—as seen with a 25% allotment of our budget devoted to missions.

Areas in Which we Desire to Improve:

  *We are a welcoming congregation to people who are new. We need improvement in the assimilation, energizing, and discipling of new attendees by the existing members.  
  *We need to stimulate love relationships within the church—for people to have a sense of belonging to a church family, so that we would be known as a church that loves one another.  
  *We would like to see more balance in each of our 4 Core Values of Gospel, Mission, Worship, and Community. (For example—our mission outreach is largely international and we would like to see more focus on local missions, without losing our historical commitment to missions overseas.)
  *We desire to reach out to and deliver teaching/preaching and activities that would encourage growth in the young adult age group, while maintaining commitment to our Core Values.
  *We need to stimulate involvement in discipleship activities by a larger cross section of our attendees. A small percentage of people fulfill the majority of the volunteer/service needs.
