Job Description:

The Pastor for Worship joins a worship culture with a vital praise and worship band, choir and orchestra.  This is a key role in the church organization.  The candidate should be a highly skilled musician and leader, able to care for and disciple volunteers and staff, organize and oversee the worship ministry, and lead the church in authentic worship that puts the spotlight on Jesus and not on any one individual.  The desired candidate should be:  an excellent musician with the skill to engage the congregation in worship; experienced and comfortable with a variety of worship styles; a leader with a heart to serve others in worship through song; a humble team player willing to help colleagues meet the church's mission; an excellent communicator with staff, volunteers, and congregation with strong interpersonal/relational skills; a person able to give and receive constructive feedback; an individual with the vision to take the worship ministry to the next level.


The responsibilities of the Pastor for Worship include:  demonstrating excellence in worship: prayerfully planned, thoroughly rehearsed, and skillfully presented; planning, organizing, and leading multiple worship services each weekend ranging from traditional to contemporary; working and guiding church leadership in the selection of music; preparing music for vocalists and band members; scheduling musicians; coordinating lyrics, videos, and dramas with the technical arts teams; directing all phases of church choral and orchestra events; overseeing worship ministries including managing paid staff and volunteers, budgeting and purchasing for worship ministry needs; recruiting, developing, and motivating paid staff and volunteers; supporting other music ministry activities, such as music for preschool, children's programs, youth programs, and outreach events; supporting the development of outreach including potentially developing satellite campuses; assisting with pastoral responsibilities; and supporting the church as needed, such as Vacation Bible School, pre-school chapel, missions, etc.
