Job Description:

The Technical Director at Living Word Church plays the most crucial role in the weekend worship experience, as well as being responsible for our audio, video and lighting design. The person who fills this role will be responsible for overseeing all of the technical aspects of the ministry, including managing the video director & media support staff, while advancing the vision we have for reaching the lost.


Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):


  • Recruiting, training and coaching volunteers for the production and film teams.
  • Insuring that volunteers and staff are scheduled for all campus needs.
  • Responsible for all production and media preparations for weekend services, mid-week services and other events.
  • Responsible for maintaining and cleaning Front of House, Stage, backstage, and Production room areas.
  • Attend weekly planning, debrief, creative and any other meetings necessary
  • Provide budgetary and operational oversight of the Production/Video Department and maintain a responsible budget to support the technical needs of the church.
  • Oversight of all technical media systems on the church campus, including maintenance, specifications and installation of new equipment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors/integrators.
  • Regular maintenance and cleaning of all A/V/L equipment, including projectors, Intelligent/conventional lighting fixtures, portable equipment, cameras, amplifier & dimmer filters, Media computers, consoles, etc.
  • Provide leadership and organizational development to the areas of Video, Audio, Lighting, Staging, Resources, Communications, Tech Services and Network Administration.
  • Work closely with the Communications director in coordinating visuals for weekend services and films.
  • Work closely with the Worship Pastor and band director for weekly services and special events.
  • Provide oversight for responsibilities of the Media Assistant (i.e. Service Archiving and Upload, CD/DVD duplication, service preparations, etc.)
  • Provide oversight/direction with the Video Director & assist on film shoots.
  • Provide assistance in basic I.T. functions and assist in communication with I.T. contractors.
  • Work with the creative team on quarterly stage designs, from concept to completion.
  • Setup wiring and patching of instruments, vocals, and other needs for services & events.
  • Programing lighting for elements of services & events.
  • Provide direction and pioneer upgrades / enhancements for Production/Media departments.
  • Provide oversight & expertise in purchasing of equipment and install at the downtown dream center location (pending).
  • Develop a strategy and maintain live stream and production at DreamCenter campus.
  • Maintain and look for ways to enhance the Live Stream from Main Campus.
  • Responsible for full production setups for exterior special events.
  • Assist other ministry areas in technical/media needs.

 Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of and ear for audio, EQ-ing, patching, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of digital audio consoles and Dante Networks.
  • Able to maintain and troubleshoot broadcast video systems.
  • Ability in Media Servers, edge-blending, projection and pixel mapping.
  • Strong knowledge in lighting, dimmer, and DMX systems.
  • Creative ability to program high end lighting productions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and fix issues with lighting fixtures, dimmers, cameras, video broadcast equipment, amps and other AVL equipment.
  • Creative ability in all AVL areas.
  • Strong knowledge of Mac OS systems.
  • Adobe Creative Suite

  • Strong knowledge in utilizing MIDI networks
  • A strong desire for always upgrading and enhancing the worship experience and department
