Creative Arts/ college / associate pastor
The Creative Arts & College Ministries leader is responsible for the weekly involvement and oversite of all Media, Worship Ministries and College Ministries areas of weekly and Sunday morning involvement but are not limited to:
College ministries: To include 4 outreaches a year for college ministries and a regular cadence of meetings in tandem with the typical 9 month annual college season.
Creative Arts: Maintain and recruit volunteers from the Greater Lansing area to the church, media and worship ministries, not just from the immediate congregation. We currently have roughly 20 volunteers in this ministry. This number would
need to be doubled within 5 years and a focus on younger volunteers would need to happen to bring balance to the various teams.
Have a working understanding of ensembles, choirs, and where the future of music ministry and college ministries is going.
Be willing to empower others to lead.
Communicate toward all ministry volunteers and church staff using Planning Center, CCB, ProPresenter, Apple products and any other forms of scheduling and media software or apps currently used at GLFirst. We are an Apple based church, and anyone considering
this needs to be familiar with Apple products or willing to acclimate. We have an Apple store directly across the freeway. It makes training easy.
Project a proactive attitude towards communication with those on your teams; ie we communicate with them we do not wait for them to communicate with us.
Patience with people, neatness, and organization are requirements. What is your DISC profile? Let us know. If you don't know what DISC is...This might not be the place for you.
Be a part of the teaching team. Yes we want you to teach.
Get better. We want you to learn and grow. Let us know how that works best for you.
About our city and church: GLFirst has grown by over 100 in consistent attendance and by 53 new members in just over a year. Our youth ministries has grown from around 37 students to over 60 in that same year. We bounce around 300 between
our two services most weekends. If everyone shows up every 6 weeks or so it hit's over 400. But it's not consistent and we are hoping the addition of this team member will help with that. We have baptized over a dozen new believers this last year and believe
the best is yet to come. We have a new Lead Pastor and are excited to see what God has in store for the future. We have recently redone our sanctuary with 73K worth of audio and video upgrades. We have gone completely digital. We are currently remodeling
our kids ministries wing as well. We have developed new greeting teams, and 13 new small groups in the last year. GLFirst is a diverse church where the homeless man and the medical doctor worship alongside one another. Well over a dozen nationalities worship
together at GLFirst from Nigerians and Albanians to Sweedes and Kenyans. Our connection to Michigan State also allows us the opportunity to have professors, doctors, students, and MSU employees attend with us. The Greater Lansing area is a city with the state
capitol, GM assembly line plants, medical and education facilities all within a few miles of our seven acre campus. Inner city issues, suburban sprawl, and farming communities are all within 15 minutes of us. Our church is right in the middle of what is essentially
the banking district of East Lansing. There is a large shopping towncenter just across the freeway where over 100,000 cars a day pass by our church. There are at least 5 coffee shops within a 4 mile radius of our church. We have been known to do funerals for
city officials and gang menbers. It's that diverse. We have become a church in the city.
Participate, communicate and coordinate all musical and college elements regarding funeral, memorial services, and weddings at GlFirst. A good pastor learns how to participate in the positive and negative elements of their people's lives and we are called
to be there for people in the good and the bad. If we had a 9th core value it would be "treat people decent."
Maintaining a sense of honor, respect, hospitality, meaning and value in regard to relationships and communication with volunteers at GlFirst. Love is not rude. Don't be rude.
We are endevoring to pastor our city, not just our people. We must reach out beyond the walls of the church. This is not a desk job, and office hours are not required, but proactive communication and organization is.
