Job Description:

Grace Centers of Hope, Oakland County's oldest and largest homeless shelter, is seeking a Director of Men's Programs.  Working under the supervision of the CEO, the Director will oversee the operations of the entire Men's Department, including Case Managers and Resident Assistants.


POSITION TITLE: Director of Men’s Programs

ACCOUNTABLE TO: CEO

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and lead a Christ-Centered curriculum to overcome addiction and homelessness
  • Plans and oversees ministry budgets, staffing and resource allocation
  • Assists Development Department in understanding programs and operations in order to create meaningful and accurate requests for funding that are consistent with the Mission’s annual budget
  • Responsible to participate in the formulation of the Mission’s strategic plan
  • Required to implement and report regularly on the plan’s goals and objectives in areas assigned
  • Teaches program classes
  • Oversees program administration, including staffing, and general operations with clear goals and outcome and performance evaluation
  • Develops opportunities and systems to train and utilize volunteers
  • May transport clients on occasion; must provide proof of valid license and insurance prior to transporting
  • Other duties as assigned

 

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Ministry, Psychology or related field, plus 5 years of experience as a Senior Program Director in a faith-based urban or social services ministry providing men and family services is required.
  • Highly developed, collaborative leadership skills required
  • Advanced psychological and pastoral counseling skills required
  • Effective staff management, training, and staff development experience required
  • Certification in Drug and Alcohol Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Seminary degree and senior or executive pastor experience preferred
  • Must have solid grasp and agreement with a reformed theological statement of faith and must be willing to attend Grace Gospel Fellowship church on frequent basis
  • Must have excellent administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of people including high level center representatives and in contrast, homeless people soliciting help from the center
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge of community resources and counseling/social work practices with high risk populations
  • Experience working with people in crisis
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Ability to motivate others toward achieving goals
  • Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-orientation, non-judgmental
  • Ability to maintain clear sense of boundaries
  • Maintains confidential information
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
