About the Position: 

The Senior Pastor of Grabill Missionary Church will be the primary face, both in the church and in the community. This position will provide leadership to the church and staff team, working closely with the Elder Board. This role will develop the leadership potential of staff as well as lay leaders in the church, while casting vision and developing strategies to accomplish the vision of GMC.

The Senior Pastor will be an excellent communicator of God’s Word, articulating the timeless truths of Scripture with clear application for living for Jesus. His genuine communication will reveal an authentic and humble heart that desires to live what is preached. Furthermore, he will exhibit a shepherd’s heart for all who are part of GMC. He will demonstrate an approachable spirit to people, and exhibit wisdom and discernment in his counsel with members of the church.

What We Are Searching For / Qualifications: 

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Senior Pastor:


An undergraduate degree is required, while a seminary degree is highly preferred.


The Senior Pastor is the spiritual leader of the church. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership success in a church setting, preferably in a moderate to large church environment with multiple staff. The Senior Pastor will have a strong gift as a compelling communicator, with an authentic passion and conviction for what is taught in both topical and expository methods of teaching. He must be a leader who exemplifies and communicates both truth and grace. The candidate will be able to relate across a diversity of generational, ethnic, and socio-economic lines in the church and community. The successful candidate will both honor and build on the past, while showing innovation and vision for the future, and take the church’s vision into new heights. This individual will have a philosophy of ministry that is consistent with the beliefs, vision, and mission of GMC, and possess a heart and passion for what makes GMC unique. The candidate will have a vision for reaching those who are far from God and do not know the grace of Jesus Christ. He will have a Christ-like love for the church and ensure that it is shepherded with love and care.

The Senior Pastor should meet the qualifications of a church leader as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:6-9. He will exude energy and charisma, with a healthy balance of empathy, compassion, and relational pertinence.
