Lakeside is a healthy, growing church in Folsom California about 25 minutes east of Sacramento. We are on a mission to transform as many people as possible into passionate and productive followers of Jesus. Lakeside has an amazing staff and hundreds of committed volunteer leaders and even more who are involved in sacrificial giving all year long. The Director of Middle School Ministry will join a staff and team of volunteers in our Student Ministry Department who are in the process of reaching out to several large middle schools, high schools, and a community college campus. Our desire is that students would live out our mission by giving themselves to others, celebrating life-giving grace, and loving meekness.

Director of Middle School Ministry

Job Description:


General Description:

The Director of Middle School Ministry is responsible for the Middle School Ministry (MSM) at Lakeside Church. The director will report to the Director of Student Ministry and support the vision, mission and values of Lakeside Church expressed in Lakeside’s “Playbook.”




Leadership Development (35%)

Develop and implement a holistic strategy for our student ministry, specifically MSM, that works towards inviting and equipping adult and student leaders in the areas of teaching, administration and leadership.


Teaching and Discipleship (30%)

Work with the High School Director and/or Director of Student Ministries to organize and administer a strategy for teaching, spiritual formation and developing community among students, leaders and parents involved in the Middle School Ministry. This will be accomplished within the framework of large and small group opportunities, communication and connection with parents, and youth-oriented events that will lead students to begin in their faith with God, belong to community, and become more like Jesus.


Activities/Camps/Retreats (20%)

Provide opportunities for students that will stimulate their spiritual growth and assist them in reaching out to their friends.


Administration (10%)

Work with the Student Ministry Administrative staff to plan for, manage, and evaluate the MSM budget, attendance, and program planning.

Work alongside the Director of Student Ministry to develop an integrated faith community for the Middle School Ministry that supports the vision, mission and values of Lakeside Church.


Pastoral Ministry (5%)

Serve in other areas of ministry at the request of the Director of Student Ministry, and Pastor Navigator that will strengthen the ministry of the church, as well as the ministry skills of the Director of Middle School Ministry.

Leadership and Interpersonal Sills

Strong pastoral and leadership skills

Organizational, communication and administrative skills

Ability to reach into the church to advocate for, inform, and recruit for MSM

Ability to cast vision and create energy in teams and individuals

Must work well with a collaborative team as well as be a self-starter

Must seamlessly transition between communicating with early adolescents, parents, and young leaders


Professional Skills

Understanding of and ability to plan and administer the MSM budget

Ability to strategically plan MSM worship gathering flow and program

Pastoral care of middle school students, leaders, and parents

Management of administrative staff, interns, and leaders

Ability to equip and develop spiritual formation of leaders and students
