children's ministry, Kids in the Village (KITV), is high energy and dynamic in the ways that it ministers to families when they come. Right now we have 4 KITV services each weekend that include music, stomp team, media, small groups, live skits, etc.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Family Ministries Pastor
DIRECT REPORTS: Administrative Assistant, Early Childhood Coordinator
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Staff Minister
A. Accountable to the Family Ministries Pastor of FVCN.
B. Embrace FVCN philosophy, vision and mission as defined by leadership.
C. Participate in a small group associated with FVCN and its mission.
D. Pastor your ministry area through visitation, calls, and follow-up.
E. Provide Pastoral care and exhibit genuine Biblical accountability to those in your ministry purview.
F. Recruit, train and deploy lay persons into your ministry area.
G. Participate in scheduled staff meetings.
H. Assist Pastoral staff with miscellaneous roles as assigned by the Family Ministries Pastor.
I. Attend at least one service per week as worshiper.
J. Achieve professional growth through continuing education, appropriate conferences, retreats and research.
II. Kids in the Village Early Learning Center Chaplain
A. Serve as chaplain to ELC.
1. Provide pastoral support as needed to ELC staff, students, and their families.
2. Conduct chapel services and other religious services as requested by the ELC Directors.
3. Model Christian faith for ELC staff and students.
B. Serve as FVCN Pastoral Staff Representative to ELC.
1. Attend ELC functions involving ELC students and staff.
2. Be present on a regular basis in ELC hallways and classrooms to greet teachers and parents.
C. Provide pastoral care to ELC families.
1. Make contact with families where interest in FVCN is expressed.
2. Maintain communication with ELC families demonstrating interest in FVCN.
III. Supervisor to Children’s Ministry Team
A. Coach children’s ministry leaders in the daily implementation of the Vision Statement, Staff Policies, and Purpose Statements.
B. Recruit, train, motivate, and advise volunteers involved in children ministry.
C. Serve as ministry advisor and staff liaison to all branches of children’s ministry.
IV. Director of Children’s Ministries
A. Establish, direct, and supervise the overall Christian Education programs for children.
1. Provide for coordination with the general church calendar.
2. Participate in calendar planning in conjunction with other ministry directors and staff.
3. Maintain community visibility through contacts outside FVCN.
4. Promote participation and supervise coordination of all children’s ministry events.
5. Implement and provide for Children’s Worship Services.
B. Ensure that the total Children’s Ministries Program operates within the established FVCN spending plan.
C. Serve general church roles as needed.
V. Pastor to Families and Their Children
D. Model relational ministry for the spiritual and personal formation of each child
through personal contacts, family visits, crisis intervention, and presence.
E. Provide network of pastoral care through children’s leadership, training of volunteers, family enrichment opportunities and ongoing information tools.
F. Implement and promote effective outreach opportunities for parents and families with children.
G. Participate in prospect follow up and home visits, in concert with the Pastoral Staff.
H. Provide for annual outreach events for families with children.
I. Oversee an annual summer spiritual emphasis such as Summer Camp.
J. Plan, prepare, promote and participate in services of the church for children and adults, in concert with the Family Ministries Pastor.
K. Conduct interview with parents of infants and children to be baptized or dedicated, working in concert with the Lead Pastor to plan and prepare these services.
IV. Work Ethic:
A. Comply with FVCN employee manual
B. Additional responsibilities in your compensation package are an addendum to the job description.
C. Ministry is required often on Fridays and Saturdays. Comp time can be taken only upon approval of your supervisor.
D. When offsite communicate with administrative assistant your availability.
