Community Bible Church, Glendive, MT is seeking a full time solo pastor to work in a rural setting. We are looking for a visionary pastor who loves the Lord, is a serious student of God's Word, and is passionate about his faith. We seek a pastor who loves people, is skilled in declaring the Word of God, and models Godly character - one who is energetic, is able to lead, shows compassion for the lost, and is connected to the community. This individual must be a "shepherd" to the sheep and one who is confident of God's call upon his life. Emphasis on training another generation of leaders for Christ's church is essential. Since October 2015, CBC has had an interim pastor who was brought in to help us with a transition period after our pastor of 25 years retired. This position is salaried, has a housing package, health insurance contribution, paid vacation, and flexible hours. Pastor Job Description:

Serving  Relationships:

The Pastor serves under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Church Body. He is directly responsible to the Church Board, which serve the congregation. The Pastor functions in an advisory capacity to the Board.


The Primary Function is to:

Edify, exhort, nurture and disciple the Church body.


Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the congregation in effective programs with vision, purpose, and priority, to fulfill the Great Commission .
  • Develop sermons spending appropriate time in preparation.
  • Administrate a weekly worship plan including the worship service order, bulletin prepara­ tion and distribution.
  • Work with the music coordinator in planning and conducting worship services that are honoring to the Lord.
  • Work to assimilate new attendees into the church family and create an inviting and wel­ coming environment in the church.
  •  Visit and minister to members and prospective members in homes, nursing care facilities , and hospitals.
  • Regularly lead the church in the Lord's Supper (Communion).
  • Conduct baptisms.
  • Teach Baptism & Membership classes .
  • Participate in outreach programs of the church.
  • Perform wedding ceremonies and funeral services.
  • Provide short term counseling sessions as needed.
  • Lead and demonstrate effective ways to witness and win the lost to salvation through Je­ sus Christ
  • Work with the Church Board and other key leadership to carry out the mission and pur­pose of the church.
  • Provide spiritual oversight in CBC board meetings.
  • Oversee, along with the Church Board, all church discipline matters and management of conflict issues in the church.
  • Adhere to the Church Constitution and Bylaws, policies, and procedures adopted by the church.
  • Assist in planning the Christian education of all ages in the church.
  • Maintain appropriate records of the church.
  • Maintain proper priorities at home with his wife and children.
  • Maintain a vital and wholesome personal relationship with the Lord through daily Bible study and prayer.
  • Work with the Church Board to assure adequate personal time is allowed.
