Job Type: Exempt (approx. 25-30 hrs. per week)

Purpose: To build a culture of worship through music and prayer by building teams of passionate worship leaders. 

Scope: This position will lead and develop the music ministry by leading worship in a variety of venues weekly and leading, developing, and training support staff and volunteers in all aspects of the Music Ministry.

  • Has a mature and growing walk with Jesus and a genuine heart for worship
  • Has strong vocal skills and is a skilled musician, proficient at playing an instrument while leading contemporary, God-centered worship songs
  • At least 2 years of experience leading worship with a full band
  • Is motivated and driven to expand the worship ministry of Calvary Chapel South to its full potential
  • Has strong leadership skills, strong relational skills and the ability to build teams by recruiting and developing musical talent (vocalists, musicians, audio and tech)
  • Can resolve conflict and bring godly instruction to worship team members with grace and truth.
  • Has strong communication skills and can teach/disciple/and train volunteers and support staff
  • Has basic computer/tech/web abilities for training and production (including a basic knowledge of audio production, Pro Presenter,,, etc.)
  • Has a humble and teachable heart with both the passion to lead and the humility to submit to leadership
  • Agrees with Calvary Chapel’s Statement of Faith
  • Ability to take direction from the Senior Pastor, Pastoral Supervisor, and Corporate Board


  • Serve as the primary worship leader at our weekly church services (currently 3 weekend services) and special events (including Easter and Christmas Eve)
  • Can organize worship teams, create worship sets for the weekly services, and direct the worship team during practices
  • Manages a team of support staff and volunteers (Sound Tech, Technical Director, Assistant Worship Director, etc.)
  • Serve as a driving creative force to shape our services and events
  • Develops and administers an annual budget for the worship ministry
  • Is a TEAM player and willing to participate in and bring a positive contribution to weekly staff meetings
  • Is willing to coordinate with other ministries to help meet their music/worship needs (especially children’s and youth ministries)
  • Other duties as assigned
