This congregation, which is running 1500 in weekly attendance, has about 300 children and 120 volunteers in this ministry! The Family Pastor position exists to direct the spiritual growth of the children. This includes running a full children’s program (birth through elementary school) for all Sunday and midweek services or events, as well as developing an overall strategy for family ministry. 

The successful candidate for the Family Pastor position has a love for children, but also a passion to partner with parents in the spiritual development of their families. This position is responsible to recruit, train, and develop teams and leaders in the children’s ministries areas and to ensure the ministries are healthy and operate in a manner consistent with the church’s mission and guiding principles.

  • Lead and direct all children’s ministries, which includes nursery, preschool and Elementary School age children
  • Use the children’s ministry curriculum to the maximum capacity to minister to children and families
  • Plan and direct a Vacation Bible School-style event each summer
  • Recruit, train, and develop teams and leaders in each ministry area
  • Proactively communicate with parents and equip them with practical resources for the spiritual growth of their children
  • Ensure that children’s ministry is healthy and operating in a way that is consistent with the mission and guiding principles of the church
  • Oversee child dedication requests, providing proper pastoral guidance through an approval process
  • Follow the spiritual growth track for children’s ministry as instructed by the Senior or Executive Pastor
  • Provide Biblical counseling, prayer, and ministry to people as needed
  • Serve as an active member of the church congregation by attending services, small groups and church events
  • Attend staff meetings, retreats, and other church functions, as directed
  • Maintain a disciplined life of worship, Bible reading, prayer, fasting, tithing and giving
  • Reports to the Executive Pastor 


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University
  • Successful experience in a ministry position
  • Exemplifies the love of Christ for all children and their families
  • Detail oriented, with an understanding of the big picture
  • Effective communication abilities in writing, on the phone and face-to-face
  • Positive, patient, friendly and a professional attitude and demeanor
  • Trustworthy and confidential, able to anticipate needs without oversight, focus on the tasks at hand and provide efficient follow through
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities based on importance and urgency
  • Must agree with and represent the church’s Statement of Faith
