Church: Village Church was started in 2011 and has grown from 18 people to 175 in weekly attendance and it continues to grow. Oak Park is a racially, ethnically, religiously, and economically diverse suburb of Chicago. Downtown Chicago is
easily accessible by train and many people who live in Oak Park work in Chicago.
Position Summary: The Worship Director is responsible for oversight of every aspect of the musical and creative elements of the Sunday worship service at Village Church of Oak Park. The emphasis of the position is on creating God-exalting
times of worship. Services will include a mixture of contemporary music and popular hymns, Bible readings, creedal readings, testimonies, and prayer. Village Church would also like to begin infusing worship services with creative ways of encouraging the congregation
and pointing them toward Christ. The Worship Director is expected to offer suggestions in this area and help to implement them.
The Worship Director should see himself as the “lead equipper” of the worship team. A significant part of his role is building into team members so they are growing in their musical abilities. This will be done at rehearsals and during outside times of community.
The Worship Director is responsible for leading one rehearsal for the worship team during the week. He is also responsible for making sure team members have schedules, lyrics, and music in advance of the worship service to enable them to adequately prepare.
The Worship Director is responsible for updating relevant information in Planning Center, church presentation software and periodic reporting requirements for CCLI.
Supervisor: This position reports to the Lead Pastor who will help establish yearly goals for the position and evaluate their execution. There will also be weekly meetings with the Lead Pastor for feedback and encouragement.
Weekly Time Expectations: The Worship Director is expected to hold one rehearsal each week outside of Sunday. In addition, the Worship Director is expected to be at Village Church by 7:45 on Sunday mornings to assist with setup, to discuss
the day’s plans with his team, and to execute an additional rehearsal before the service.
It is vital that the Worship Director maintain regular times of personal prayer and Bible study throughout the week in order to be in tune with the Holy Spirit’s desires for himself and times of worship at Village Church. A personal plan of spiritual enrichment
will be completed with the direction of the Lead Pastor.
Compensation: The Worship Director will receive a salary with an expectation of working approximately 30 hours per week (including Sunday mornings). The Worship Director will be given three weeks of vacation with one additional Sunday off
each calendar year in order to provide rest, refreshment, and time to simply worship on a Sunday. The Worship Director will have the option of being in a 403b with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5% of his salary. Village Church seeks a one-year commitment from
all staff members.
