Job Description:

Main Responsibilities:


  • Overall leadership of NewCityKidz (preschool to 8th grade), miniNewCityKidz (infant to toddler), and high school ministry (9th to 12th grades) in both Downtown Parish and the new San Fernando Valley Parish.  We presently have about 35 children and youth on a typical Sunday in Downtown Parish.  We have about 15 children in the core team of the San Fernando Valley Parish (which is in the process of being planted—soft launch on April 16, 2017 and hard launch in August 2017).  Downtown Parish meets on Sunday mornings and SFV Parish meets on Sunday evenings.
  • Create a new children and youth ministries from scratch in San Fernando Valley Parish
  • Teach, pastor, and help children love Jesus and follow him
  • Recruit, assess, develop, train, pastor, and schedule volunteer teachers, leaders, and workers
  • Create a safe environment of children and youth
  • Develop relationships with the parents of the children and youth
  • Develop systems and programs and oversee them for children from infant to 12th grade
  • Take the children and youth ministries to the next level by casting vision, putting together a strategy with other pastors, leaders, teachers, and parents, and execute on the strategy




  • A spiritually mature Christian who believes in the vision and core values of New City
  • Gifted in teaching, leading, and pastoring children, especially children from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • A strong pastoral heart for children and youth
  • Productive and manages time well, well organized, and self-starter
  • Good communication skills
  • Theological education is a plus but not required
  • Qualified under 1 Tim 3:2-7




  • Work about 40 hours per week (plus 5+ hours to be a part of the community life)
  • Communicate openly and with tact
  • Regular attendance and participation in worship and in the life of the community
  • Participation in staff meetings and at least one meeting with the lead pastor per month
  • Grow daily as a follower of Christ


Compensation:    $40,000 per year
