Job Description:

Whittier Area Community Church (WACC) is searching for a gifted leader with a passion for children and families to fill the full time position of Pastor of Children’s Ministries. This ministry consists of serving approximately 500 families each week, nearly 100 volunteer leaders, and 6 paid staff. The Children’s Pastor will be responsible for the pastoring of the children and their families, the development of the volunteer leadership team, and the implementation of a ministry strategy that inspires wonder about God and builds a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.


The Children’s Ministries at WACC is a vibrant ministry that serves hundreds of kids each week. It’s an environment where kids experience God, not just learn about Him, in a relevant, relational way. The Children’s Ministry at WACC serves children from infants through sixth grade, and the staff is currently writing their own custom curriculum for first through sixth grade.

The Children’s Ministry at WACC has been a cornerstone ministry for decades, and the leadership at WACC is committed to supporting and helping it reach its fullest potential alongside the new Children’s Pastor. The new Children’s Pastor will only be limited by his or her own ability to have vision and ability to dream up an incredible ministry. The expectation of the new leader will be to develop the Children’s Ministry for the future of WACC.


The qualifications begin with a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience working in Children’s Ministries. A graduate seminary degree is preferred. Also required is a proven track record of effectiveness in recruiting, equipping and mobilizing paid and volunteer staff for ministry. The person must possess strong interpersonal skills, time management skills, team building skills, and must be an excellent communicator.
