Job Description:


Position Summary: It is the primary responsibility of the Compassion Director to create a heart of missional service within the congregation locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. This missional service is done primarily through the development and leading of short-term mission trips, building relationships with church partners/mission agencies, community service, and creating a culture of volunteering and leadership development.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide the leadership support to the Compassion ministry including, but not limited to the following:

  • Leadership oversight for local, regional, national and global Compassion ministries.

  • Provide direction and encourage leadership development for local compassion leaders (Project His Kids, Stephen Ministry, Meal Team, Card Team, etc.).

  • Maintain and develop strategic partnerships with local non-profits, community organizations, and others as appropriate.

  • Develop local compassion service opportunities, aligning Venture with existing community partners and initiatives.

  • Liaison to global partners to build and foster relationships.

  • Coordinate short-term missions … develop trip schedule, orchestrate upfront planning with global partners, and develop high-level timelines and budgets as well as coach team leaders.

  • Lead global support team, providing administrative structure and support to short-term missions.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive strategy for the compassion ministry budget

  • Compassion marketing liaison, coordinating communication needs across all compassion teams.

  • Lead and organize Compassion oriented events. i.e., Hope Water Project, Christmas Crackup, Benefit Concerts, etc.).


Position Requirements:

This position requires the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be a forward-thinking individual with a desire to help the team win through increased organizational effectiveness

  • Must have a collaborative and flexible leadership style with a strong service mentality

  • Must be relational and adept at building teams.

  • Adept at building strategic working relationships with both staff and volunteers.

  • Experience in leading a department, budget, and people in a church environment preferably in the area of missional service.

  • In step with the future direction of Harris Creek with regards to mission, vision, and strategy.

  • Must develop an expertise on using the Venture Hub.

  • Must be very proficient on using the Microsoft Office Suite.
