First Baptist Church Jackson is not a building, but a committed fellowship of believers. The church has established itself as a flagship of the SBC network, long since its inception in 1838. FBCJ is Christ centered, pastor led, deacon served, and committee approved within a framework of congregational authority.

Located in the epicenter of Mississippi, the church has a long history of great preaching that is built around the pulpit from the 1940’s. Rooted in expository biblical teaching, FBCJ continues this longstanding legacy through current Senior Pastor, Dr. Matt Brooks. The church has sustained an active membership of 10,000 and draws an average attendance of approximately 3,500 on Sunday mornings. Offering excellent ministry programming for all ages, the church is highly relevant and relatable to the multi-generational congregation it attracts each week.

The role of Young Adult Pastor will have oversight of the Young Adult Ministry at First Baptist Church of Jackson. They will work in collaboration with the Student Ministry and Family Ministry, so as to fully utilize the Young Adult Ministry as a stepping-stone for both incoming and outgoing students. Success in this role will be measured by a ministry team that is fulfilling the mission and vision of FBCJ, resulting from faithful and intentional leadership offered through this position.

A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Current or potential enrollment in a master’s degree program is desirable, although it is not required. The ideal candidate for this position would have a history of experience and proven success as a Student Pastor. They will innately be a “people person” who exudes amiability and exceedingly strong relational attributes. Entrepreneurial in both spirit and in work ethic, they will possess impeccable communication skills that translate inter-generationally. The successful candidate will be a ‘doer’ by nature, with the capability to take the Young Adult Ministry of FBCJ to the next level, as the church enters its new season of growth.
