In 1922, Calvary Tabernacle held their first service in small house in the city of Schenectady; 18 people were baptized at the conclusion of the gathering. Since then, Calvary has been a church passionate about making a significant impact in its city and reaching the nations. For over 90 years, Calvary has sought to love God and love His people, particularly in the area surrounding Calvary Tabernacle.


It is their desire that every person strives to Love God, Serve one another, Grow closer to Christ and each other, and Go into everyday life as His missionaries. 


The next Family Pastor of Calvary Tabernacle will provide leadership, direction, and management to all aspects to Children’s and Youth programming at Calvary Tabernacle, and ensure its function within the parameters of the church’s vision. They will seamlessly integrate into the culture and life of the church, particularly with the significant multicultural demographic evident among the believers. This individual will offer leadership insight, to not only ministries, but also to future endeavors of the church alongside the senior leadership, and will possess the willingness to offer strategic foresight in order to further the mission of Calvary Tabernacle.


Formal education is not a predetermining factor for the selection of the new Family Pastor. However, it is likely that they will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills in addition to the aforesaid educational requirements:


  • Proven ability to recruit, build teams, develop, and direct staff and volunteers.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement ministry strategies.
  • Previous experience leading a successful kids or youth ministry in a paid or volunteer position.
  • Proven track record as a team player—not necessarily a "yes" man, but certainly one that is teachable and will follow senior leadership.
  • Previous experience, oversight, and management of ministry logistics including, but not limited to, budget expenditures, service programming, teaching responsibilities, and small groups.
  • A functional level of administrative skills.
