    Ministry Description

Associate Pastor of Discipleship Ministries. The role of the Associate Pastor of Discipleship Ministries is to provide leadership, development, and direction for the Discipleship Ministry as it pertains to the overall vision of the Church.

Location: Mountain Lake Alliance Church, Mountain Lake, MN.

Personal Qualifications:
     -Committed Christ follower who is growing in spiritual maturity and feels a call by God into ministry.
    -Love for people and families.
     -Strong organizational and leadership skills.
     -Ability to build and lead volunteer teams.
    -Be reliable, take initiative and be self-motivated.
    -Embrace and adapt to growth, change, innovation and creativity.
     -Use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity and confidentiality.
-Have a cooperative, healthy and motivating relationship with supervisors, coworkers, congregants and volunteers.
    -Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
-Demonstrated ability to understand and relate to individuals and their families, while maintaining a passion to see them grow in their faith together.
-Ability to handle criticism and disappointment in a spiritually mature way. (Having a tough skin and a tender heart)

    (Essential Functions)
-Oversee all programming and ministry for Adult discipleship. (Life learning classes; Work with lay leaders of mens and women’s ministries, Home groups, Fellowship groups.
-Prepare and stay within a yearly budget to be approved by the Lead pastor and Board of Administration.
    -Give an annual report for presentation and publication.
     -Choose and prepare necessary and appropriate curriculums, along with staff.
-Create environments, activities and programming that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
    -Recruit, train, schedule and lead teams of volunteers.
     -Share in providing care for those within the congregation, including hospital visits and follow-up.
-Work with staff to maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new attendees.
     -Work with staff to plan and assist in overseeing events, such as Missions conference, Celebrations dinners, Christmas programs, etc..
-Incorporate Alliance Missionary Churches key core values into the discipleship process.
    -Attend weekly staff meetings (Tuesday morning 9:30am-12pm)
-Communicate to the congregation through video announcements, bulletin boards, etc.
-Attend and support church events, baptisms, picnics, missions conferences.
    -Develop new leaders within your sphere of influence.
    -Fill the pulpit when the Lead Pastor is away.
    -Assist with Funerals, Weddings, Baptisms, Counseling, Baby Dedications.
    -Attend Board of Administration and Elders meetings as non voting member.

    (Potential ancillary responsibilities specific to Alliance Missionary Church)
-Assist in Budget and finance committees, Bylaws committee, Attend local ministerial meetings; occasionally participate in local nursing home and retirement center services. Attend district Conference and or Council)

Preferred Educational requirements and experience:
     -Master of Divinity
-Competency with basic computer software (Excel, Word, Publisher), and the capacity to learn new software (Photoshop, Planning Center, others).
-Understanding of social media, can work with Church Website and make video presentations.
    -At least tens years of active pastoral ministry in related areas.

    -Works closely with other staff.
    -Will be accountable to the Lead Pastor.

Hours and benefits:
-The Associate Pastor position is a full time salaried position. There is the expectation that this responsibility will entail a minimum of 40-50 hours a week.
-All of the churches facilities and equipment, i.e. copiers, computers, etc. are available for church use at no cost.
-Benefits of vacation and holidays will be determined on an individual basis. (Be mindful you will be required to work on holidays that fall on weekly service days; i.e. Christmas, Easter, etc.. When this happens the holiday may be taken on another day).
-Presently full insurance benefits, Medical reimbursement, Professional expense, contributions to retirement funds.
    -Parsonage Housing
