Christ Church is a large Anglican family of faith within the North Dallas corridor in Plano, TX, that reaches its surrounding cities and communities with the transforming love of Jesus Christ. It is a biblically-based church deeply rooted in the historic understanding of the faith once delivered to the saints and relevant in the application of this life-changing faith today. Christ Church’s stated mission is to "make disciples and teach them to obey the commands of Christ”, the very words of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

Christ Church began as a small group of 13 people meeting for a bible study in April of 1985.  Bishop Donis Patterson appointed the Rev. David Roseberry as the Missioner for the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.  The young 29-year-old priest began advertising, knocking on doors, and making pastoral calls in homes to invite people to join small groups initially led by Fr. David and his wife Fran. The opening public worship service met at a middle school in Plano in August of 1985. Today, the church has an average attendance of 1,500 worshipers each week.

The centerpiece of the congregation is its worship experience week by week.  The Anglican Prayer Book tradition provides the broad liturgical framework for worship services, whether in the small intimate chapel or the large cathedral-like nave.  The worship life of the church is centered around the pulpit and the altar, providing members and visitors with a rich balance of Word and Sacrament at every service throughout the liturgical church year. The style of music is both contemporary and classic.  The worship sanctuary is a formal, cruciform nave; the seating plan is open and intimate.  The church itself reflects its own understanding of Anglicanism: it is a blending of traditions, forms, music, and styles.

The Christ Church family is a wonderful collection of people from all over the world and at every age and stage of life. It is a fully-Anglican congregation: multi-generational, multinational, and multiethnic, reflecting the changing demographics in Plano and North Dallas.

The Rector of Christ Church bears a significant spiritual responsibility as the chief visionary, preacher, teacher, and pastor for the people of Christ Church.  Even now the congregation is praying for this new leader and the role he will serve. As indicated in the Book of Common Prayer (1979) the Rector is to be devoted to the service of God and His people in body, soul, and spirit. He is to have a memory filled with the record of God’s mighty works; an enlightened understanding by the light of the Holy Spirit. He is to be an instrument of God's salvation for the people entrusted to his care. He is to faithfully administer the holy sacraments of the church and, by his life and teaching, set forth the true and living Word of God. He is to be a man of prayer and devotion, of heightened love and gratitude; and in preaching, he is to have a readiness of thought and expression.

The new Rector of Christ Church will be dependent upon God to fulfill this role; he may also be assured of the prayers and support of the people of Christ Church.
