Leaf River Baptist Church

About Our Church

Leaf River Baptist Church is a Bible-centered, multigenerational church located in the rural community of Leaf River in northern Illinois. Our mission is simple: To Know Christ—Grow in Faith—Go make Him known.

While our average Sunday attendance is around 80, our broader ministry influence reaches approximately 150 people through families, community relationships, outreach ministries, counseling, and special events. We are a relational church family that values authentic discipleship, biblical teaching, and meaningful ministry beyond Sunday mornings. We are a church that truly cares for each as family.

At LRBC, we believe church is more than attendance—it is a community of believers growing together, serving together, and investing in the next generation.

Our Rhythms of Discipleship are to:

• Gather -- attend services regularly
• Grow -- participate in Sunday Bible Study and small groups
• Serve -- serve the body of LRBC
• Go -- serve outside the walls of the church

We value and are committed to:

• Bold biblical teaching
• Passionate prayer
• Engaging worship
• Reaching the lost
• Fellowship with the family
• Doing everything with excellence.

Leadership & Staff Culture

Our church is led by a Lead Pastor who oversees the church staff and ministry direction while maintaining a collaborative and relational ministry environment. The Elders are the spiritual guides of the church, and the Deacons are the hands and feet of ministry.

We value:

• humility,
• initiative,
• creativity,
• teamwork,
• and a genuine heart for people.

This is not a “clock in and clock out” ministry culture. We are looking for leaders who desire to build relationships, invest in families, and become part of the life of both the church and the surrounding community.

The Opportunity

One of the most exciting aspects of ministry at LRBC is the incredible opportunity to impact children, students, and families in our area.

Our local community currently has no programming or consistent investment directed toward kids and youth. Families throughout the area are actively looking for safe, meaningful opportunities for their children.

Quite honestly, the need is enormous!

There is a genuine openness in the community for someone who will:

• care about young people,
• build relationships,
• create engaging environments,
• and consistently invest in the next generation.

This is a rare opportunity for a ministry leader who wants to build something meaningful from the ground up and make a visible impact on an entire community.

What Success Looks Like

Success at LRBC is not measured simply by attendance numbers.

We believe success looks like:

• families growing in their walk with Christ,
• people becoming rooted in Scripture,
• deeper discipleship relationships,
• young people finding identity and purpose in Jesus,
• and church members becoming increasingly confident in making a spiritual impact within the Leaf River community.

We desire to be a church that equips ordinary people to live extraordinary lives of faithfulness.

About the Area

Leaf River is a small rural Illinois community surrounded by neighboring towns including Oregon, Byron, Rochelle, and Rockford. The area offers:

• affordable living,
• strong community values,
• good schools,
• outdoor recreation,
• and the opportunity to build deep relationships in a close-knit environment.

This is an ideal setting for someone who values relational ministry, authentic community, and the chance to make a lasting difference in people’s lives.

Join Us

We believe God is creating exciting opportunities for ministry growth in our church and community, especially among children, students, and young families.

We are praying for a leader who:

• love Jesus deeply,
• love people genuinely,
• and are excited about building disciples who will impact the next generation.

Ideally, the person who will thrive in this role is someone with a deep love for Scripture and a genuine passion for investing in young people and families. While formal Bible training is appreciated, we are equally excited about candidates who demonstrate humility, teachability, and a strong desire to continue growing in their biblical knowledge and ministry experience.

Because of the nature and compensation structure of this position, this opportunity may be especially well-suited for someone early in their ministry journey—such as a recent graduate, current ministry student, or an individual seeking hands-on experience in a relational church environment.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact, develop ministry leadership skills, and help shape the spiritual culture of the next generation within both the church and the surrounding community.
