White Pine Community Church
Cumberland, Maine - United States
White Pine Community Church had its first service at the North Yarmouth Memorial School in October 2001. It actually began much earlier when God led three couples to regularly meet and pray regarding the starting of a contemporary, seeker-sensitive church in the communities north of Portland. After two years of meeting together and praying, the group, having grown to about eighteen people, launched White Pine Community Church with a part-time teaching pastor, and Joe Campbell as a part time Programming and Arts Pastor.
God blessed and the church began to grow steadily. White Pine added a full-time teaching pastor, while Joe Campbell became the full-time Programming and Arts/Caring Pastor. White Pine experienced continued growth during the next two years, and a solid core group of people were added who had a like vision of reaching people with the message of Jesus Christ in a contemporary, seeker-sensitive way.
White Pine continues to grow as we focus on reaching and serving people in towns and communities north of Portland. Today we are a thriving non-denominational/Willow Creek Association church with an average of 275 people each Sunday (and growing), with great contemporary worship, multi-media, visual arts, biblically-based and relevant teaching, nursery, exciting children’s ministry, and adult electives. The church continues to be true to its original vision of being a safe place for spiritual seekers while at the same time encouraging and developing Christian believers.
