Job Title: Associate Pastor for Student Ministries Denomination: Southern Baptist Convention Sunday AM Attendance: 300-400 Website: crcsbc.org Crossroads Church, located in the far north suburbs of Chicago, is seeking a new Associate Pastor for Student Ministries. The theme of Crossroads’ long-term strategic plan is “Engage: God, Each Other, and the World.” We are seeking a youth pastor whom God has gifted to lead our junior and senior high students into deep-hearted engagement with God, true-hearted engagement with each other and the rest of the congregation, and courageous engagement with the world for the cause of the gospel. Personal Qualities •Meet the qualifications for an elder in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. •Able to work with other staff to carry out the church’s Strategic Plan. •Subscribe to the theological tenets of The Baptist Faith and Message (2000). •Be able to say sincerely that though his heart and flesh may fail, God is the strength of his heart and portion forever (Psalm 73:26) and that to him, the steadfast love of the Lord is “better than life” (Psalm 63:3). •Demonstrate firm commitment to the Bible as the inerrant authority for the life and doctrine of the church and his ministry (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21). •Demonstrate a giftedness in teaching the word of God to students “in season and out of season” (2 Timothy 4:2), so that the Lord uses that teaching to grow our students in the truth of the “faith once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). •Have familiarity and experience with audio and visual worship technologies. •Have (preferably) either Masters of Divinity or other Masters degree from an accredited seminary or Christian graduate school, along with (preferably) some church staff experience as a pastor to students. Duties •Coordinate ministries for junior and senior high youth. •Lead and/or direct junior and senior high Sunday School and weekly meeting programs, including selection and/or development of teaching curriculum. •Lead junior high and senior high youth groups in organized retreats, projects, mission trips and other special events. •Build meaningful relationships with youth, providing the opportunity for ongoing discipleship. •Participate in worship services, as requested. •Assist Senior and Board of Elders in other areas of ministry, as requested.
