College-age Minister Kirksville, MO (The Flame Ministries) & The Mark Twain District

Position Summary: The Ministry Director of Flame Ministries is the primary leader in the mission of facilitating, enhancing, implementing a comprehensive, dynamic Christian fellowship and community for growth in spiritual life, building of leadership skills, and preparing college-age persons for mission as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Essential Responsibilities:
*Overall visioning, leading, strategizing and execution of a dynamic ministry to college-age people, on campus, in the community, and in local churches.
*Provide spiritual growth opportunities and mentor college-age persons
*Leadership development program for college-age persons and mobilize them into leadership
*Provide accountability to leadership through oversight, coaching and mentoring.
*Supervise Peer Ministers.
*Work with area UMC Pastors to develop relationships between congregation members and Flame members.
*Integration of college-age persons in the life of local Churches.
*Offer leadership and/or participation in major activities of the campus ministry.
*Fundraising: making connections between local congregations, alumni and other supporters with the goal of being financially self-sufficient by 2015.
*Being Present – in the congregations throughout Mark Twain District promoting the ministry and encouraging support.
*Oversight and communication with supporters and Mark Twain District Churches.
*Participation and attendance at MO Conference events planned for college-age leaders and other continuing education opportunities.
*Help ensure effective management of all facilities

*Cultivate a consistent and vibrant connection between Flame Ministries and area churches.
*Strong relational and interpersonal skills
*A heart for Christ and deep passion for working with 18-24 year olds.
*Visible in the life of area UMCs.

*Solid United Methodist Theological understanding and/or training.
*College degree preferred
*Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required.

Salary – based on experience
Benefits – Health Insurance through the MO Conference
Vacation/Time Off – two weeks at Christmas & two weeks over summer
