Pastor of Student Ministries

Primary Purpose:
We expect this person to be able to develop leaders - both student and adult - who make disciples that love God, live connected, and serve all through our ministries that reach student grades 5-12.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Be Western Hills resident expert on teen culture.
2. Give vision & leadership to a regular ‘program’ that makes disciples of students 5th - 12th grade
3. Enlist, train, and mentor leaders for our 7th-12th grade ministry (Student Ministry).
4. Enlist, train, and mentor leaders for our 5th-6th grade ministry.
5. Plan and conducting special projects (camps, retreats, mission trips) for student program.
6. Prepare and manage an annual budget for needs of the student ministry.
7. The dreaded - “Perform other duties as requested by the lead pastor.”

According to our Constitution and Bylaws - all staff are supervised by the Lead Pastor, who is accountable to the Church Council.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be a born again believer with a maturing relationship with Christ.
• Must show a faithful pursuit of leadership characteristics as listed in 1 Timothy 3.
• Must be a graduate of a four year college or university.
• Must have displayed a calling for Student Ministry.
• Must demonstrate a genuine love and good rapport with teenagers and their parents.
• Must be able to teach, train, and disciple student workers.
• Must possess organizational and administration abilities.
• Must be in agreement with Constitution, Bylaws, and doctrinal statement of the church.
• Must become a member of the church as soon as possible.
• Must be in good physical and mental health.
• Must have a humble and teachable spirit.
• Must be a self-starter and ability to follow through.
• Must have a pastor’s heart towards all people.

Beyond the Minimum Qualifications
• Prior experience in developing a discipling student ministry
• Seminary training is preferred but not necessary.
• Participate in worship services when requested.
