Central Community Church
Job Description:
Central Community Church (www.mattooncentralcommunity.org) is a church that desires to engage our community and culture, striving to reveal and reflect Christ as we love and serve the Coles County area. CCC focuses on Bible-based teaching that opens God’s Word in applicable and relevant ways that result in transformation.

The Children’s Ministry at CCC is currently called The F.I.R.E.HOUSE and encompasses all ministries to children and their families from birth through 5th grade. Our desire is to create environments where the salvation and spiritual growth of children and families can occur. Our hope is to partner with parents by introducing children to follow Jesus and challenging them to live like him in this world.

During the week, The F.I.R.E.HOUSE creates environments for children and families to explore faith and grow in their faith through our midweek program which meets on Wednesday evenings during the school year. Summers include our Vacation Bible School Program.

The Student Ministry at CCC is currently called The Well and encompasses all ministries to students and their families from 6th to 12th grade. The mission of The Well is to create environments where students can come to know God, personally own their faith, and make their faith known while experiencing community. The Well desires to partner with parents by encouraging students to follow Jesus and challenging them to live like him in this world. On Sunday evenings, The Well involves a student worship service for jr. and sr. high students. Students typically lead worship and the youth pastor preaches.

During the week, The Well creates environments for Jr. High and Sr. High students to know God, personally own their faith, and make their faith known. They meet on Wednesday nights during the school year. These groups average between 25-50 total students per week in attendance.

Currently, Central Community Church is seeking a Pastor of Student Ministries to provide leadership that will move this ministry forward at a high level as the church engages the community of Mattoon and the surrounding area. This position will involve 60% engagement with The Well Student Ministries and 40% engagement with The F.I.R.E.HOUSE Children’s Ministries. The ideal candidate is someone who has significant experience in developing and leading students and children’s ministry and can bring fresh, cutting edge, yet biblically-based perspectives and practices to CCC. It will be essential that this leader is gifted and committed to equip and empower others for ministry—building highly functioning teams while caring for and encouraging those involved. Significant experience leading innovative ministry will be important, along with evidence of both growth and health.

Additionally, this leader will possess the ability to access the effectiveness of existing programs and be diplomatic when existing programs need to be released. This leader will cast vision, while possessing godly confidence that draws people into thinking about possibilities at a higher level than has been achieved previously. Someone who engenders respect from the students, staff, volunteers, and peer leaders in the church is a “make or break” trait for success. This individual will not only lead the Student and Children’s ministries but will consistently find ways to advocate for and be the face and voice of these ministries to the congregation.

Additional pastoral duties will come up as requested by the senior pastor.

We encourage anyone who has the qualifications and who senses a potential calling for such an opportunity of service to contact us and discuss this position.
