Director of Children’s Ministry

Job Description:
The Woodlands United Methodist Church is seeking a Director of Children’s Ministry or Children’s Minister to administer and develop programming for children ages three through 6th grade.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have at least a B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field and experience with the age group; theological training preferred. Strong Christian faith and excellent public speaking and communications skills are required.

Responsibilities:
• Build, grow, motivate and maintain an effective Children’s Ministry team; oversee staff of 14 full time and part time employees
• Recruit, train and develop an effective team of volunteers
• Provide vision for discipling children in the faith
• Oversee and develop age-appropriate curriculum
• Teach occasional classes such as Bible Study, Confirmation or Parent Events
• Create and maintain the children's calendar and events
• Oversee Sunday School, Confirmation, Vacation Bible School, Bible Studies and Special Events
• Oversee ministry for children and young adults with special needs
• Oversee 5th and 6th grade day camp and summer camps
• Oversee family mission opportunities
• Create and update yearly budget for Children's Ministry, including supplies and payroll
• Work collaboratively with other church program leaders for integrated ministry.

Church Description: The Woodlands United Methodist Church (TWUMC), located in The Woodlands, Texas (north of Houston), is one of the largest congregations of the United Methodist Church with almost 10,000 members and regular attendance of 4,700. Children’s Sunday School approaches 2,000 and 6th Grade Confirmation is over 200. TWUMC is an evangelical Methodist church and provides a broad spectrum of worship and service opportunities including seven weekend services, an accredited preschool, an elementary school, a marriage and family counseling center, youth, adult and senior programs and comprehensive Christian education.
