POSITION TITLE: Senior Director of Church Ministries
The Senior Director for Church Ministries at Normandy UMC will work based upon the direction of the Senior Pastor plus the unique callings of their experience, formal education and according to the responsibilities below.
This is a full time or Part Time (Minimum 30 hours/week leading to full time) position.
As Senior Director, there is special emphasis on the Ministries of Normandy and the future growth of Normandy in our local community. Also includes a role in Human Relations, employer/employee relations, organization structure, and efficiency, support of assigned staff functions, congregational care and teaching the faith.
The position will require evening and or weekend work and an unpredictable schedule. It will also be subject to deadlines, short time frames and will require the facilitating of Long Range Plans.
Serves as lead staff to:
• Children’s Ministry Council
• Youth Ministry Council
• Christian Dev. Comm.
• Christian Outreach Comm.
• Adult Ministries Council
• Communications Comm.
• Wedding and Funeral Services Council
• Director of Youth Ministry
• Director of Children’s Ministry
• Director Adult Ministries
• Director Wedding and Funeral Services
Attends Church Council Meetings
Carries primary responsibility for the ministries of NUMC
Provides spiritual direction for the ministries staff
Attends related Committee Meetings
Visit Congregational Members as directed by the Senior Pastor
Acts in the role of filling in for the Senior Pastor as Directed
Performs other associated duties and assignments
The Senior Director shall have the equivalent of a 4 year degree, faith building experience, success in leadership, pastoral care, program ministries, conflict resolution, administration, and management leadership. Position does not require a Seminary Degree; however a partial education at a Seminary will be beneficial.
Attracting, maintaining, and supporting young families along with our current Youth and Children’s Ministries will be a special focus for the future growth of Normandy. Due to our Long Range Planning component, experience in Marketing/Sales would be a benefit for leading our growth into the community. Also, leadership experience in Contemporary Worship Services would also be definite plus for this position.
Senior Director must profess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord plus follow the disciplines of the United Methodist Church.
A team style of ministry is vitally important to the success of the ministry at Normandy UMC. A team player will enthusiastically participate in cooperative planning and implementation of programs and general ministry activities. This includes regular attendance at staff meetings and sharing in the teaching ministry of the church.
