The Spiritual Formation Pastor’s primary responsibility is to create and implement a strategic plan that embraces, supports and resources small groups, missional communities and large adult groups for the purpose of fostering continuing spiritual growth of every attendee. MISSION has a mixture of small groups, missional community groups and separate men’s and women’s ministries and is actively working to significantly increase these numbers. Our spiritual formation approach is founded upon engaging our Micah 6:8 vision and it's aims. Core to our Spiritual Formation vision is the objective of constantly moving people from a position of spiritual babes requiring much care to spiritual adults who can care for others and themselves. Spiritual Formation pastors are the ones who are primarily responsible to implement and carry out this vision as much of spiritual formation process occurs beyond weekend services.
Make the spiritual formation path at MISSION clear and simple
Support and foster the health of approximately 50 adult small groups
Support community growth strategy development that expands participation to 60-80% of church adult attendees.
Lead the development of a spiritual maturity assessment tool through external and internal research
Conducting spiritual maturity assessments (using the tool), benchmark current spiritual health and continually measure growth and progress as related to goals and objectives
Oversee, support, resource and foster the growth of current large group ministries such as: Women’s and Men’s
Lead and manage a small staff of employees to assist in the mission of small groups, missional community groups and men's/women's ministry.
The Best Candidates are those who are spiritual leaders of leaders who poses an uncommon understanding of spiritual maturity and formation.
They are characterized by their ability to:

Lead with a servant-leadership style
Develop in themselves a close, experienced and mature relationship with the Lord
Form positive relationships quickly
Quickly assess the maturity level in others and move them forward in growth (discipleship)
Discern the leading of the Holy Spirit and determine direction
Motivationally lead volunteer leaders to perform well and experience growth
Foster unity among a large group of leaders
Connect to the vast array of spiritual growth resources and link appropriate items to specific needs
Develop and execute plans
Model Christ’s compassion and love for others
Be enthusiastic and bring energy to the table
Clear demonstrated commitment to Mission Community Church (membership required). Fully supportive of and engaged in the Micah 6:8 vision.
Full, wholehearted agreement with the doctrinal position of Mission Community Church.
Good level of spiritual maturity and experience in following the leading of the Holy Spirit
Strong relational skills which foster connection with volunteer leaders, the internal staff and attracts volunteer leaders
At a minimum candidates need demonstrated experience working on teams and preferred is team leadership experience
Demonstrated servant leader style experience (1st level leadership)
Leader of leaders’ skills which enable coaching of large and small group leaders (2nd Level leadership)
Strong grasp of Scripture. Spiritual, justice or mercy oriented degree required; Masters or Seminary preferred.
Experience in creating and/or expanding ministries using new and/or different approaches (outside the box)
Experience creating and developing metrics and measures to successfully achieve goals and objectives
Minimum of 2 years experience working with adult ministries and small group ministries with 5 years preferred
