Job Description:

Function: Enhance Worship with the ministry of music, including being part of the Worship planning process. This person’s talents and work are to be directed at helping the Church to be the most effective in God’s Ministry. Maintain a professional and positive working relationship with the Pastors, other staff members, members of the music ministries and the congregation as a whole.

Direct Supervisor: Senior Pastor and ExecutivePastor

The Director of Music Ministries is a member of the church professional staff whose purpose and function is to support the church’s ministry of music and to assist in all aspects of coordination and planning of worship services. The Director of Music Ministries shall also be responsible for general oversight of the music staff. This person is expected to participate in opportunities for professional development in Worship and music ministry

Overall planning of music for all regular and special worship services.
Multiple choir program development and operation including duties as conductor and accompanist coordination, recruitment, training and supervision of volunteer directors, accompanist and music assistants, administration of program activities and special events, music ministry budget and all other activities related to the continuing development of a caring and comprehensive music program for all ages.
Oversee the development of instrumental ensembles for all age groups.
Planning and guidance for continuing development of the music library.
Oversee the supervision and maintenance for the organ, pianos, handbells, robes,costumes, and other musical equipment.
Education of the church regarding hymnology, sacred and contemporary music.
Coordinate with pastors all regular and special worship services including supervision of all music to be included in weekly bulletins.
Provide and assist in coordinating seasonal brochure planning and preparation.
Providing special concerts and programs for festival seasons of the church year.
Providing leadership and planning for building, renovation and modification projects as needed.
Lead congregational singing.
Formulate a music budget each year.

Meeting with organist, volunteer and staff members to plan worship services and special worship opportunities.
Planning and selecting music for each worship service.
Contact absent members of music ministries
Contact prospects for the music ministry.
Answer emails, phone calls and generate emails.
Plan chancel choir and praise band rehearsals and take time for personal preparation of materials to be rehearsed and direct rehearsals.
Plan children’s choir rehearsals and take time for personal preparation of materials to be rehearsed and direct rehearsals.
Select music to be purchased.
Research equipment needs.
Consult with Director of Facilities about special needs and set ups..
