Wednesday 6:30 p.m. Worship Band Director/ Music Leader
Serve as the worship band director and music leader in a worship team leading new, energetic, and relevant worship experiences. Worship services will be held on Wednesday evenings during the 2012-2013 school year - 6:30 – 7:10 p.m. Rehearse prior.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
•Regularly meet with the Wednesday Worship Team for the purpose of planning, developing, and evaluating music and worship experiences and communicating ideas and concerns.
•Plan for and select music, within the guidelines of the annual budget, so as to provide instrumentalists and singers with copies of music far enough in advance to allow for sufficient preparation time.
•Ensure that copyright permissions have been secured well in advance for all music used in worship.
•Ensure that texts and image ideas are submitted to the Administrative Assistant far enough in advance to allow sufficient time for PPT preparations.
•Meet monthly with the Bethlehem music staff.
•Assist the Worship Board in formulating the overall music budget by submitting requests for music, equipment, and materials to the Worship Board for discussion.
Scheduling and rehearsal
•Recruit, schedule, and maintain contact with musicians for the Wednesday worship band.
•Work closely with the Wednesday worship team to coordinate music planning, schedule, and rehearsals.
•Work closely with the Sound Technician to coordinate schedules for rehearsals and worship, continually evaluating the quality, mix, and balance of sound.
•Rehearse once each week to prepare instrumentalists / vocalists to play together as a band for Wednesday worship leadership.
•Direct the worship band during worship.
•Provide leadership to the worship participants in their singing.
•Delegate responsibilities to band members, such as set-up and take-down, seeking and organizing music, communicating, and community-building among band participants.
•Submit to the Administrative Assistant by Monday morning, all information, music, or notations about music, which will be used for inclusion in the Wednesday Power Point (PPT).
•Review and proof the PPT.
The immediate supervisor for the Wednesday Worship Band Director is the Lead Pastor.
•Sense of God’s love for the world and for all people in Jesus Christ.
•Commitment to the vision and mission of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
•Knowledge and understanding of current, popular Christian music styles, such as music heard on the radio today.
•Music skills and abilities in vocal and instrumental leadership.
•Appreciation of the components of worship.
•Commitment to involving worship participants in singing.
HOURS: Non-exempt, part-time. Paid on the 15th and last day of each month worked.
Individual music research, planning, and preparation, 1.5 hour
communicating and coordinating with the worship / music team
Rehearsal Wednesdays, 5:00-6:30 p.m. 1.5 hour
Worship Wednesdays, 6:30-7:10 p.m. 1 hours
Total per week 4 hours
Number of weeks per year – 32
September – 3, October 5, November - 3, December – 3 (2012 = 14 weeks)
January – 4, February – 3, March – 3, April – 4, May – 4 (2013 = 18 weeks)
Total hours per school year – 128
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Compensation based on related training and experience.
The position is a part-time position that is not benefit eligible under the Personnel Policies of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
AUDITIONS will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, on Wednesday, August 29, between 6:30 – 9:00 p.m.
