Job Description:
The Director of Family & Youth Ministries (DFYM) will be primarily responsible for ministry to youth (grades 6-12) and their families, and emerging adults (ages 19-29); including planning, development and assessment of education, fellowship and service ministries. The DFYM works cooperatively with the Associate Pastor to assure alignment of all education ministries, and provides leadership, oversight and supervision to volunteer and professional staff engaged in planning and implementation of programs. The DFYM must be knowledgeable of, and help maintain compliance with Central’s “Safe Child Policy”. The DFYM will supervise and oversee the Director of Children’s Ministries, and work cooperatively to provide seamless programming across all demographics. Must have a passion for Jesus Christ, and a commitment to personal spiritual disciplines; desires to create a climate for the spiritual development of children, youth and young adults; personal theology is compatible with Presbyterian theology.

Essential Functions
• Bring to the position a dynamic presence, energetic effort, and faithful creativity
• Demonstrates proactive initiative in all areas of responsibility
• Work successfully as a member of a team and independently when required
• Promote program-area activities through church information outlets
• Identify and implement additional ministry opportunities in all areas of responsibility
• Integrate youth and emerging adults into the worship life of the church

Family & Youth Ministries (75%)
• Direct/lead Sunday morning youth education programs
• With Associate Pastor plan and co-lead biennial Confirmation Program
• Attend and oversee weekly youth fellowship meetings and other scheduled events, including parents meetings, mission projects, fundraisers, fall and spring retreats, mission trips, Presbyterian Youth Conferences and the annual Youth Sunday
• Develop and resource a team of volunteers for youth and family programs
• Continually train volunteers on Central’s educational benchmarks for youth
• With Associate Pastor, conduct a review of family and youth programs and curricula (minimally every 3 years) to identify opportunities for improvement in alignment to congregational goals and objectives

Emerging Adults Ministry (15%)
• Maintain connections to Central’s emerging adults (19-29)
• Plan fellowship/learning gatherings appropriate to college/post-college emerging adults, including monthly meals, bible studies, service events/trips

Oversight/Supervision of Children’s Ministries (10%)
• Oversee, and assist when needed, the children’s programming led by the Director of Children’s Ministries
• With Directory of Children’s Ministries conduct a review of children’s programs and curricula (minimally every 3 years) to identify opportunities for improvement in alignment to congregational goals and objectives

• Comply with all other duties assigned by immediate supervisor and/or the Pastor/Head of Staff.
