We believe God is preparing a Senior Pastor for ACF. A strong leader whose life is - in all aspects - built on Jesus Christ, and who has a heart for Europe and community.
Introduction
Antwerp Christian Fellowship (ACF) is an English-speaking international Baptist church, located in the heart of Antwerp, the second largest city in Belgium, a strongly secularized country with a historically Catholic tradition. We are a growing, multi-cultural community consisting of expatriates, locals and students, coming from various denominational backgrounds. God has led our community to focus on His Kingdom: how Jesus established the Kingdom and is Lord over His creation in all dimensions, and how we are called to serve Him as King, and collaborate with Him in building His Kingdom here in Antwerp.
Qualifications
The candidate should have:
- A profound understanding and conviction of Biblical orthodoxy (see ACF’s statement of faith: http://antwerpchristianfellowship.org/our-beliefs/).
- A natural gift to build community through spiritual and practical leadership: building (upon) and growing the community within (ACF), and the wider community of Antwerp with a spirit-led approach.
- Strong teaching skills: doctrinal teachings supported by daily life applications.
- Strong leadership skills: able to manage and grow ACF, with the ability:
- To manage the growing size of ACF congregation;
- To recognize the key spiritual needs of the church, and to shepherd the congregation by growing lives in Christ, by creating / expanding ministries;
- To recognize able leaders and delegate to them without losing spiritual oversight;
- To bring a closer relationship between the leadership of the Church and its congregation.
- To manage the growing size of ACF congregation;
- A heart for Western Europe, and a strong call to serve and settle in the heart of Western European culture. Western Europe has become secularized more rapidly than any other society in the world, and to serve God, in order to build His Kingdom here is more than a job: it needs specific passion to seek the prosperity of the city, pray for it, and settle in it [cfr. Jeremiah 29].
Expectations
- The Pastor will bring God’s Word weekly;
- The Pastor will work with the elders in a God-led, eldership-based leadership, with a focus on spiritual oversight, prayer, and planning of church life;
- The Pastor will work with the deacons, with a focus on building community, ministering to the needy, and evangelisation;
- The pastor will keep day-to-day oversight and leadership over all ministries of the church, including the worship, children’s and home group ministries;
- The pastor is expected to learn the local language (Dutch).
Interested candidates are required to send the following items with their application to "psc.acf @ gmail.com":
- An up-to-date curriculum vitae;
- The candidate’s approach to preaching;
- A brief statement of how the candidate deals with controversial issues from the pulpit and in ministry, starting from concrete experience;
- A brief summary of what in the position / advertisement is particularly attractive to the candidate.
In order for all correspondence to be held in the strictest confidence, no applications should be made via phonecalls to the ACF phone number on our website.
