Connecting Ministries Director
Golden Hills Community Church

I. Purpose

To assist in the fulfillment of the Great Commission and the purpose of Golden Hills
Community Church by providing pastoral care and leadership to the GHCC community.

II. General Responsibilities


1. The Community Life Pastor (CLP) will shepherd the GHCC community through counseling, visitation, and other pastoral care ministry. These ministry opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following: pre-marital, marital, benevolent assistance, and other counseling; weddings; baptisms; and funerals/memorial services.

2. The CLP will serve the GHCC community through other ministry opportunities as deemed necessary and as assigned by the Senior Pastor, the Management Team, and/or the Pastor of Shepherding Ministries.


1. The CLP will develop, articulate, and organize strategies for achieving our purpose of “glorifying God by making disciples who will impact every area of the world for Christ.” These strategies should align with our church focus of “Worship, Grow, and Serve.” Annual, measurable goals will be developed, refined and evaluated in a team effort involving the Management Team, the Elder Board, and the Shepherding Staff. The organization and development of new ministries to accomplish these goals is also encouraged.

2. GHCC is a lay ministry driven Church, as presented in Ephesians, chapter four. The CLP will participate in focused training opportunities and regular staff ministry meetings; and will be committed to meaningful personal accountability relationships.

III. Specific Ministry Description

1. The Connecting Ministries Community Life Pastor (CMCLP) will participate in developing
and implementing a comprehensive plan for ministry to the people at GHCC, specifically providing vision, guidance, and leadership for our Connecting Ministries staff. He will also recruit, develop, and train lay ministry personnel to fulfill the ministry goals of Connecting Ministries and to facilitate the connection of people into the discipling ministries of the church. While there is a general ministry description for each position, the specifics will be formalized as giftedness, passion, and skills are revealed. The specific ministry responsibilities will be adjusted by the staff member in consultation with the Pastor of Shepherding Ministries.

2. The CMCLP is responsible for articulating the vision of, and organizing strategies for, achieving stated outcomes as mandated by God’s Word in keeping with the church’s stated purpose. In addition to the general CLP responsibilities, the CMCLP will provide pastoral oversight to the following ministries:

a. HeBrews Bistro (Brentwood Campus)
b. Greeters (Antioch and Brentwood Campus)
c. New Guest Center (Brentwood Campus)
d. Information Center (Brentwood Campus)
e. Ushers (Antioch and Brentwood Campus)
f. New Guest Parking (Brentwood Campus)
g. Newcomer Connection (Antioch and Brentwood Campus)
h. GHCC Connection (Antioch and Brentwood Campus)
i. Hospitality Ministry (Antioch Campus)

3. The CMCLP will also be responsible to keep current with issues and needs shaping connecting ministries and to keep both the church leadership and the lay staff advised regarding needed changes in order to keep our ministries vital, effective, and glorifying to Christ.

IV. Conclusion

All ministry personnel of Golden Hills Community Church are called to live their lives in a
manner glorifying to the Lord Jesus Christ and pleasing to Him, as led by and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. All ministry personnel are expected to maintain a life characterized by serious
prayer and a strong commitment to God’s Word and to His people.

V. Desired Ministry Qualifications

1. Genuine love for Jesus Christ, the Word of God, His people, and the lost.
2. Quality, intimate relationship with God.
3. Seminary graduate, M. Div. preferred.
4. Ordination.
5. Extensive pastoral experience (church staff/missionary/chaplain) – minimum of ten years.
6. Considerable experience and skill in counseling, preaching, teaching, visitation, weddings and funerals/memorial services.
7. Warm, hospitable, engaging personality.
8. Considerable experience and skill in leadership, problem solving, interpersonal relationship challenges, and effective communication.
9. Experience in administration, writing, and budget preparation.
10. Ability to work effectively on a large ministry staff.
