Job Description:
Doers of The Word (DOTW) Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Church of North America (http://theevangelicalchurch.org/), a Wesleyan-Arminian holiness denomination.

In the spirit of the early Methodists, our focus is on equipping member families to become "living Bibles" in their own individual spheres of influence through hearing and doing the word. In fellowship and connection with the underground church of North Korea and around the world, our weekly gatherings bring persecuted church practices to the "free" world: we combine extemporaneous and traditional worship, monthly "do the word" training events, extensive Scripture and hymn memorization, and a family-focused system of tithing wherein each household is equipped and held accountable to distribute the majority of their tithe themselves (rather than giving it to the church to manage and distribute).

DOTW Church is both a Colorado congregation and, through the aegis of nonprofit Seoul USA (www.seoulusa.org), a church planting and disciple making ministry that establishes and oversees a growing network of similar congregations in South Korea, China, and North Korea. Seoul USA serves as the North Korea program office for Voice of the Martyrs organizations around the world, as well as John Maxwell's EQUIP ministry.

The Discipleship Pastor assists in the oversight of the DOTW Evangelical Church congregations, responds to discipleship training and project partnership requests from individuals, churches, and ministries around the world, and helps develop and disseminate curriculum to support these aims. Areas of responsibility include research, writing, design, discipleship, preaching, teaching, strategy, media relations, curriculum development, and administrative support.

The Discipleship Pastor will be mentored by Rev. Eric Foley (www.ericfoley.com), a pioneer in bringing persecuted church discipleship strategies to the church in the rest of the world.

An MDiv degree or masters-level equivalent from an ATS accredited seminary is strongly preferred. Extended overseas service is a definite plus, as is past involvement with the underground church and the church in Asia. Ordination, 3-5 years of pastoral service, and a willingness and eligibility to transfer credentials to the Evangelical Church denomination is required.

It is essential for the candidate to be able to function equally well in a parish setting, an office environment, and in the mission field. The ideal candidate will be a strong administrator, regarding administration as as much a ministry as teaching and preaching, not just a necessary evil that has to be done.

It is important to emphasize that we are not an American organization operating in Asia. We are an Asian-American organization with legal organizational structure, staff, and physical offices on both continents. It takes significant cultural aptitude to work with our partners in the U.S., the Koreas, China, Russia, Europe, South Africa, South America, and Canada. The ideal candidate will be a humble student of other cultures.

If you feel like God may be leading you to consider the position, please:

1. Submit your resume and a cover letter indicating why the position is of particular interest to you.
2. Include writing and preaching samples (must be submitted electronically) that you feel best represent your work in relation to the requirements of this position.
3. Share information on your background in field work, international mission work, and cross-cultural experience.
4. Share a statement of your competency in project management and office work.
5. Share a statement of your competency in electronic media (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, project management and office productivity software).
6. Verify that you presently have the necessary citizenship or work visa making you eligible for employment in the United States.

An inquiry form inquiring about personal ministry background and spiritual maturity will be sent to qualified candidates. Thus, candidates who are casually interested ought not to apply. This is serious, sophisticated, and complex work, and we believe that even the application should be a part of a serious process of spiritual discernment wherein only those who sense a genuine ministry calling to this kind of work should apply.

We are seeking to have the Discipleship Pastor in place September 1.
