Job Description:
Ward Church is a multi-generational commuity of 2,000+ attendees that seeks to love God passionately, serve others joyfully and intentionally share our faith with people across the street and around the world. We are seeking a Information Technology Manager to create an environment in which church staff and volunteers can effeciently and effectively accomplish their work with the technoloby tolls provided by the church.
DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Experience training users of all levels to be proficient using computer-based applications.
2. Experience creating and maintaining documentation for training and administration of applications and systems.
3. Competence with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Microsoft Visual Studio, Microsoft
technologies, such as Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008 R2, IIS7+, and latest web browsers. Ability to
integrate Mac technology into a Windows-based server environment a plus.
4. Comfortable deploying and maintaining hardware.
5. Customer-driven and comfortable with a wide variety of user types as well as many different technologies. Deliver
outstanding high-quality service that is both customer-friendly and technically proficient.
6. Able to achieve expert-level proficiency with a variety of desktop and internet applications.
7. “Systems thinker” thriving on creating, improving, and enhancing the “how” we do ministry.
8. Confesses and demonstrates a relationship with Christ.
9. Ability and experience in attracting, training and supervising teams of volunteers with IT tasks as needed.
10. Desirable spiritual gifts include: administration, helps, service, and leadership.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Become (with training) the resident expert of our Church Ministry Systems (Arena), and as needed with other
software management systems as well as daily administration of the phone system. Also provide training & support
to staff and volunteers on these systems.
2. Implement ongoing improvements to Church Ministry Systems (e.g. reports, modules, etc.), our web content
management system, and other software systems deployed at the church.
3. Provide training and support to church staff on office productivity applications: Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher,
PowerPoint, etc. as well as use of workstations, working with files, storing items on servers, e-mail operation and
any necessary computer skills.
4. Serve as primary liaison with out-sourced technology management companies. Under their direction, maintain all
computer hardware and software for both on and offsite locations. This will include:
a. Deploying and supporting hardware - workstations, laptops, check-in kiosks, printers, and other accessories.
b. Installing and maintaining church supplied and supported software.
c. Maintaining current records of hardware and software owned by the church.
d. Performing regular computer maintenance, program updates, repairs, and troubleshooting as needed. Also
oversee regular preventative maintenance with vendors and service providers. Document procedures for,
and coordinate execution of general administration tasks such as adding & configuring new users, managing
back-ups, etc.
e. Conduct administration of the LAN and WAN network, servers, and interface equipment to provide
system stability and integrity. Develop policies and procedures in network system use, administration, and
maintenance.
5. Assist the Director of Campus Services with the planning, development, and implementation of industry best
practices, service level agreements, and support protocols.
6. Cooperate with the pastoral staff, church leadership, and supervisor by performing any other duties when asked.
7. Oversee staff, vendors, and others as required to maintain the above equipment and services.
8. Attend regular meetings with the supervisor and other church leadership as needed.
9. Available on Sunday morning, Wednesday evening and during special events at Ward in support of distraction free
technology, e.g. class check-in, and related.
