MinisterSearch (www.MinisterSearch.com) is delighted to present a great opportunity for Senior Pastor candidates at an established, growing church in a beautiful community in west Houston. This church, with an attendance of approximately 400 weekly, desires a Senior Pastor who can meet people “where they are.” They also have a real heart for missions, and one way they demonstrate this is by supporting more than 80 full-time missionaries both overseas and in the United States.

This church is also very involved in local outreach, with a very active counseling ministry, as well as many other programs that provide ministries to both church members and the local community. Blessed with a wonderful facility in the beautiful Galleria area of west Houston, this church has lovely accommodations, as well as great areas for the children and the youth.

Leading this church to the next level will include the following responsibilities: Lead an ongoing ministry of developing disciples of Jesus Christ; Devote himself to the Word of God through personal and scholarly study: Hold to the doctrinal views described in their statement of faith; Provide oversight of the administration of the church; and Plan, along with the other elders, the future ministries and activities of the church. This leader will have a personal life that meets the requirements for an elder and pastor as set out in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES:
• Study the Word of God, and hold to the doctrinal views described in our church’s Statement of Faith
• Prayerfully participate with the Session to discern God’s calling for the church
• Guide, foster, and communicate to the staff, church body, and leadership the vision set forth by the elders
• Serve as the Primary Pulpit Preacher/Teacher; preaching on Sunday mornings approximately 40/weeks a year
   --Preach expositionally (verse by verse or topically) covering the whole counsel of God and systematically delving into scripture’s rich, inerrant truths, instruct appropriately, allowing the Word to transform children, students, men and women
   --Challenge the congregation to live out their faith--lovingly and strategically creating an environment that the Holy Spirit can use to transform and stretch all who attend the church
• Encourage participation in Small Groups
• Be a passionate leader in the areas evangelism and missions
• Support and encourage the counseling program
• Be focused on leading, discipling, and mentoring the staff and the congregation
• Direct and embody senior leadership and provide general oversight to all ministries/departments of the church
   --Equip elders and deacons to effectively carry out their ministries
   --Maintain close relationships with the fellow elders by regularly meeting with them, seeking their counsel, updating hem regularly, and making the congregation aware of their ministries

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Meet all Biblical requirements of an Elder as documented in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1-3
• At least 5 years of Senior or Associate Pastor experience at a church of no less than 300 in weekly attendance
• Possess a Seminary Degree (strongly preferred)
• Possess the experience and ability to confront and resolve conflict in a healthy, biblical manner. Likewise, must have the confidence and humility to be confronted
• A history of preaching the Word in a manner that honors Holy Scripture and that calls people to action
• Must have experience with and the ability to preach in a relevant teaching style and be able to reach out and relate to people “where they are”; people of varied means, walks of life, and differing levels of spiritual maturity-- an exhorter who can speak truth in love
• Be a facilitative and collaborative leader
• Believe in and model transparency
• Possess the heart of a shepherd and a servant
• A proven team player who knows how to surround himself with strong leaders whose gifts enhance his own, while allowing them the freedom to exercise their gifts
