POSITION TITLE: COMMUNITY AND OUTREACH PASTOR
LOCATION: EASTERN SEABOARD OF VIRGINIA
SALARY RANGE: COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE

REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE PASTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES:

• Oversee all community groups including couples, singles, men’s, women’s and special interest. (such as Starting Point, Financial Peace, etc.)
• Conduct activities that will promote the health and growth of community groups.
• Cast a vision and develop a team for local outreach.
• Lead programs and activities that encourage members to go out into the community and serve, keeping the “outreach temperature high.”
• Oversee Men’s and Women’s ministries (which are lay led), and other adult ministries such as Married Life Live (a quarterly church-wide event to encourage marriages).
• Oversee assimilation, helping transition visitors from guests into involved members, including guest follow-up and membership classes.
• Oversee Sunday morning hospitality ministries including welcome, greeting, communion, parking and coffee.
• Create and implement ministry plans and budgets for all areas of responsibility.
• Serve as one of 7 Senior Staff who leads the church in a collegial manner.
• Attend and participate in regular Staff meetings.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• A passion for groups within the church for the purpose of shepherding and spiritual growth, reproducing leaders, creating a caring environment, loving God, demonstrating God’s love in the community, and serving the world
• Strong communication skills
• Strong leadership and administrative gifts
• The ability to present to large and small groups in a relational way
• 7+ years of successful ministry staff experience in a church of at least 500 in weekly attendance. (including oversight of at least 10 small groups)
• A proven track record of 50% of overall church attendance involved in small groups
• Experience in team building and vision casting, leading small groups and volunteer teams
• The ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers
• Four-year degree, preferably in a ministry-related field
