Job Description:
Christ the King Community Church, International (CTK), has garnered national attention as a pioneer in the Multi-Site Church movement. Lead Pastor Dave Browning’s book “Deliberate Simplicity” sets out CTK’s unique blend of refreshing simplicity and dogged determination to “keep the main thing the main thing”. CTK Coupeville is part of the CTK International network, with sister congregations throughout the region of Northwest Washington and around the world. Therefore the Pastor of CTK Coupeville, though called to lead the congregation in Coupeville, joins a network of pastors who are friends and partners in the mission of CTK.

CTK Coupeville is seeking an engaging, relational pastor with the heart of an evangelist. This person must possess the ability and personality to relate to non-believers, spiritual seekers, and disciples of Jesus in a non-judgmental way while pointing people onward in their spiritual journey. A heart for reaching the next generation is a high priority.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Pastor
Christ the King Community Church – Coupeville, WA

Mission:
Provide pastoral leadership for CTK Coupeville.

Vision:
The vision for this position is to have a person join our team who embodies the mission, vision and values of CTK, with the heart, talent, leadership and interpersonal skills to oversee the development of people, systems and services.

Compensation:
This will be a full-time salaried position.

Work Week:
It is generally expected that a full-time work week will be between 40-50 hours, including worship gatherings.

Time Off:
Provided that the ministry is "covered" during absence, this position can take whatever time may be needed for personal renewal and vacation, with pay. Generally, it is expected that the harder you work, the more time off may be needed, and that the biblical pattern of the sabbath (six parts work, one part rest) is a good pattern to be followed.

Reporting:
It is expected that a local pastor will have contact with his supervisor (Area or Regional Pastor) at least once per month. These meetings are for mutual support and encouragement.

Review:
The position and the work environment will be reviewed at 30 days and thereafter each October. At any review both sides can evaluate whether they want the relationship to continue, discontinue, or continue with alterations.

That you will be confidential about sensitive matters. Don’t share confidences. No gossip. No talking with people who are not part of the problem or the solution.

That you will take responsibility for your area of ministry. Own it. Have a vision for it. Develop it. Take initiative. Take care of it.

That you will be personally organized to keep track of important dates, phone numbers, assignments and instructions. Have a daytimer. Set up a filing system.

That you will strive for excellence in everything you do. Pay attention to details. Continue improving.

That you will be growth oriented and plan on serving twice as many people as your presently do. Organize with growth in mind. Plan for the future.

That you will limit your span of care to not more than five to seven people for yourself and those you supervise. Develop leaders. Redistribute the work. Keep it manageable. Break it down.

That you will promptly follow-up on contacts with 48 hours. Assignments from Sunday morning completed by Tuesday morning.

That you will develop systems that give people clear ownership of the ministry. Schedules. Job descriptions. Procedures. Phone #s. Team leaders. Team rosters. Team meetings. Organizational charts.

That you will recruit people for your area, with strong leaders and administrators being placed in strategic places. Identify, recruit, deploy, train, and support volunteers.

That you will create redundancy in your area of ministry. Supervisors, emerging leaders in place to easily substitute. At least two people who know every job and are empowered to carry it out.

That you will think ahead and anticipate concerns and areas of need before they become a crisis. Know what the problems are. Address them. Be proactive.

That you will help to create and maintain a positive working environment for the people who serve under you. High morale. Lots of encouragement. Thanks for a job well done.

That you will promote your ministry area to your community. Newsletter articles, classified ads, program announcements, word of mouth.

That you will innovate and take advantage of opportunities as they present themselves. Take us to places we’ve never been before.

That you will communicate weekly with your supervisor and report areas of concern, success, progress. Notify about absences, vacation time, etc.


Specific Responsibilities:

• Providing visionary spiritual leadership for CTK Coupeville, centered on the 3 priorities of CTK: Worship, Outreach, and Small Groups.

• Identifying, recruiting, deploying, training and supporting volunteers who minister in a Worship Center, with a specific span of care including:

Director of Operations
Director of Worship
Director of Children’s Ministries
Director of Youth Ministries
Director of Small Group Ministries

• Providing ongoing teaching in a Worship Center consistent with the mission, vision, values, beliefs and expectations of CTK.

• Multiplying leaders, groups, services and sites.
