Willamette Christian Church is a thriving 54 year old church family situated physically in the heart of West Linn, Oregon (a suburb of Southwest Portland, Oregon). We are a caring community that loves God, loves people and serves the world. For the past four years we have experienced over 20% growth annually in our attendance of children, youth and families. We regularly serve over 1500 people via three Sunday services and we anticipate continued growth as we seek to honor God in our worship and teaching. We seek to always provide a healthy environment for families to become more fully devoted followers of Christ.

We are expanding our leadership team to increase our capacity in our Children’s Ministries area by adding an experienced and dynamic leader. This individual must not only display a deep commitment to Christ but also have a passion for serving the families and children of the communities we serve. They are a strong and proven leader with the character and capacity to both execute and help create the vision of the church for children’s ministries. The Children’s Ministries Pastor must be an exceptional fit with the culture of the organization and must have proven success in building strong teams, forming healthy relationships, creating development and growth plans, working within a team of leaders.


Christ-honoring Character – Demonstrates character traits such as humility, gratitude, integrity, generosity, wholeness, and courage. Displays overall wisdom and maturity in life; has a stable and healthy personal life.

Demonstrated Leadership Skills – A team leader with dynamic interpersonal skills. Must exhibit high energy, be captivating, and possess the ability to coach paid and volunteer staff. Must have effective staff and management skills.

Effective Communication Skills – Able to communicate well, both in writing as well as verbally.

Honed Operational Skills – Provides full oversight of the operations of children’s ministries. Must be a strategic thinker and be able to get things done.

A Champion for Children’s Ministries – Must bring solid background in leadership of like organizations with proven success and track record.


Minimum of eight years experience as a proven leader in a like organization. Experience in a church environment of 2000 attendees or more is strongly desired.

Experience introducing or using the Orange Curriculum or other leading edge programs to promote a vibrant , dynamic and rich experience for the children we serve.

Ten+ years experience managing others is required. Directly supervises all staff roles and reports directly to the Associate Pastor. Responsibilities include leading the staff in a service oriented, high-productivity fashion. Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and training of key staff and volunteer positions.

Ten+ years of experience organizing and leading meetings, providing staff development and leading the initiatives of a team.

Minimum of five years experience with strategic planning and implementation is required. Must develop and adjust structure and systems to ensure we’re moving forward and in the same direction.

Experience with building new programs from scratch or scaling for multiple site constituencies while employing superior strategies to ensure solid communication and strong team behaviors is desired.

Provide input in primary aspects of the future growth of WCC including but not limited to establishing a vibrant, mission-focused church.

Travel to off-site conference will be required at minimum every year, and potentially more frequently.
