JOB POSITION:
Worship Leader, New Song Church (www.newsongumc.org)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
New Song Church is looking for a dynamic, innovative person to create, direct, produce and lead weekly contemporary Sunday morning worship services and oversee planning for weekly Celebrate Recovery service. The Worship Leader will have the freedom to develop spiritually inspiring, culturally relevant and memorable worship experience for both believers and seekers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Balance the importance of ministering to, recruiting and developing a team of vocalists, instrumentalists, and technical support to create a cohesive, spiritually uplifting worship service that makes an impact to transform lives for Jesus. The Worship Leader would help lead, shape and oversee the worship culture of the church in conjunction with the church’s leadership, and work to bring alive the Church’s mission statement: “To help seekers come to know Christ and help believers become fully-devoted followers of Jesus.” Possess a likeable, easy-going approach with vision and the ability to both motivate and mobilize people. The Worship Leader would be a resource person and consultant to other members of the Leadership Team and CORE Ministry Leaders. In this capacity the Worship Leader will be aware of the major ministry responsibilities of the other leaders and be available to help them enhance their ministries. Other responsibilities include the oversight of weekly rehearsals, development of visual media and drama presentations for the congregation to follow in worship, insure the schedules for each part of the team are in order, attend weekly staff meetings and monthly CORE Team meetings, continue in one’s own training, research and select music, have the ability to recognize musical talent from within the congregation and encourage development of these graces, recommend an annual budget and be responsible for the purchase of music, equipment and supplies (within the church’s purchasing guidelines). The Worship Leader works under the direct supervision of the Pastor and is accountable to the Pastor, Staff-Parish Relations Team and the Leadership Team. The Worship Leader will be a member of the CORE Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A mature, strong, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, along with being gifted in music as an expression of faith and creative artistic discernment. Technical skills are preferred, to include visual illustration software and related needs for band and vocal equipment. Instrumental qualities and vocal gifts are preferred. Other qualifications include: a strong visionary, leadership and teaching gifts, creativity, planning and organizational skills; dependability, a developed familiarity in contemporary worship, self-discipline, an effective team builder and motivator, self-motivation, be a competent communicator (both interpersonally and publicly), and a willingness to work within New Song’s leadership structure and system of denominational governance.

EVALUATION:
The job performance and compensation of the Worship Leader will be evaluated annually by the Church's Personnel Team (Staff-Parish Relations Team).

FT/PT:
This is a full-time position. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
